The dual-RV670 GPU graphics card coming from AMD/ATI within the next few months is coming along very well. It's slated for a release in early January/February, and will not be any bigger than the current RV670. Instead, to fit the additional GPU, it will be longer. The R680, thanks to a dual-slot cooling solution, will sport massive stock clocks (800MHz!). We'll keep you posted as more R680 rumors arise.

If CF is any indication R680 should beat the Ultra!

This is the card to get! :toast: That is unless Nvidia dishes out an even more awesome 8800x2...

Well being that i've been let down in the past from amd, i'm going to want to see some nice benchmarks before i really make any decision as to if its going to destroy the competition or not.

why you continue to hope that ATi/AMD will come again and kick @ss like some years ago??

I wanto to know that...becouse i was a fan boy of AMD/ATi...but now all my hopes are gone...

And for a year now, that i see only good thing arriving only from Intel / nVidia...

Tell me why u are so hopeful?? give me one good reason!

Because the benches we've seen look competitive? Maybe we don't want a Nvidia and Intel monopoly? Maybe we want choice? Progress? Better prices?

Because throughout both ATI's and nVidia's history, they've gone back and forth every couple of years. One is on top for a couple years, then the other goes on top. ATI will likely bounce back eventually.

Same with AMD/Intel. Tho Intel has historically been on top in performance more often than AMD.

Better Quality too ?.

With lengthening it, they should also lower power requirements, heat and instability issues.

seems good, i'd like to see what nvidia's rebudle to this will be.

Thx everybody! U give me not one, bot a lot of good reasons...i will wait!! :)

I think the Driver Program that ATI has setup is very Solid ever since the Catalyst 4.12s came out i havent had any Problems, now the 7.8/7.9 dont worth with some HIS X1950 Pros (AGP) but i think its the design of the cards themselves giving out the problems. So far i have been running catalyst 7.6 drivers.

I like the path AMD is taking with CrossFire/CrossFireX. Multi-monitor friendly and a solution that's going to open up a bunch of options for users (1 - 4 cards, cards for physics, etc). I don't feel like I'm giving up anything - this is making my inner-geek smile - and that can make up for an FPS loss in benchmarks. (Add to it that reviewers are saying that ATI's visual quality is noticeably better is a big plus as well).

So I'm hoping for the best when it comes to the Phenom / HD 3000 Series / 790FX chipset :D
