PC World was the one that got the picture of the chip with the additional traces. That was when everyone knew it was coming.

Der8auer spilled the name (3950X) in one of the GN videos

I personally don't understand why we're limiting ourselves to low TDP values in desktops, it's not like we're dealing with notebooks in which you have limited cooling capacity and power usage limits. This is the desktop platform, the sky is the limit. If the processor needs more power, there are 1000 Watt power supplies. If the processor needs more cooling then you know, go balls to the walls with a massive liquid cooling system.
Because governments are watching. The computer industry has been trying to stay under their radar. They want to stay away from, say, The California Energy Commission, as much as possible.

I wouldn't be too quick to want to satisfy those hippies in California. They're worried about power usage meanwhile their state is literally on fire because of wildfires. Talk about being worried about the wrong thing! I can guarantee you that those wildfires are putting more CO2 into the air in one year than all of the power plants do in ten years.

Yes but in ten years time they will release a patch for multicore performance and I will be future proofed for it. You won't be with your g3258.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
That record is at almost 6ghz all c/t...and there are only 2 submissions, lol.

I wonder, if that result is true, what cooling was used. With 15% ipc increase that has to be 5ghz all c/t give or take.

R20 was under a chiller at 5.2 ghz... which means that ryzen was likely around low/mid 4 ghz.

Edit: you filled in the details Slater I said them, lol.

OMG, can you imagine that at cost of 9960X + ITX board -we can build 3950X+ ITX+ RTX2080/Radeon VII+ PCIE Gen4 SSD+memory and even PSU/Case?

If you need all those c/t to game, yippee!

Or, you know, buy something that costs half that much with half the c/t and more appropriate for gaming and rock a 2080ti AND a better monitor. :p

I do prefer a full fledged better monitor, half cores and half gpu power.

Better monitor indeed, I love my 5K monitor, can't look at lower PPI monitors after getting used to Retina :-(.
Too bad it's not for gaming, and changing resolution is ~15 sec, so If I am in game and by accident I press "Win" - I need 30 sec to get back to the game lol.

That's kind of a... weird way of looking at it. I mean, if you're an enthusiast sure, you can throw power requirements and cooling requirements out the window. Have your 1000w power supply and your water chiller. But neither Intel nor AMD is selling chips that require water chillers and go way past the point of diminishing returns. 99% of desktop users are fine with a 65w or less processor, if they even use a desktop anymore. Laptops and smartphones are where it's at for a lot of people these days.

So performance numbers from 9920K and 3900x er BOTH at 105 W TDP, not letting the 9920K running it's normal speed. I know that 165 TDP was shown but that was not what Su said.

It's not like the stream is over yet... and you have to remember, they will want to hold this chip back until Intel tries a desperate ploy to claw back at gamers. At that point, they can unleash the true 16 core chip to just keep them ahead. Calm down, and think of this from a business perspective. It's more thought out than that.

There's a surprise... here it comes...?

THERE IT IS!
