AMD RX 7000 series GPU Owners' Club

@QuietBob I've stopped using HWInfo as I'm not sure it knows what it's doing on Navi31. Regularly says shader and core and effective are basically hitting 3GHz, and always report higher than Radeon software (which more closely mirrors what applications say about the GPU, ie. 3DMark). Both use the same default polling rate, so HWInfo has no excuse there.

Perhaps it's a high refresh rate thing, I've tested now both single and multi monitor with a variety of videos from 720p to 4K and all behave the same way in small player vs. fullscreen player.

When the "multi monitor video playback gaming stutter" happens, it and the FPS dips basically line up with the behaviour observed here.

Tomorrow I might find the time to revisit 23.1.2 for the fourth time. Maybe up the polling rate too to fill in the gaps.

Yeah, I get the same values for front end and shader. Though the developer claims it was fixed in the latest official release

Hello !
I'm Karl from France and I'm new here.
I hope that I'm on the right place to find some help.
I'm about to buy a 7900XTX. I hesitate between two different models.
The XFX SPEEDSTER MERC 310 for 1199€ or the Gigabyte GAMING OC 24G for 1155€
Which one would you choose ?
The XFX is 50€ more than the Gigabyte.

And I have a second question.
I have a 3 screen set-up. (2x4k 60hz Display port and 1x4k120hz HDMI)
Is it a problem to handle for the 7900 XTX ?
Thank you very much.
I don't know about others, but for me, it'd be AMD exclusive AIBs and nothing else. That is, only PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX as they design their coolers exclusively for AMD cards. As for Gigabyte vs XFX, well, I'd say look at warranty first, IF they have the differing periods of warranty (2 years? 3 years?), pick the one with longer warranty coverage for peace of mind. But, IF they both have the same period of warranty coverage, the easily (for me) the XFX....and I do have an XFX MERC 310.

That's just my opinion, wait for more feedback from others....

Well I have the Gigabyte Gaming OC one. Pretty good card, when it comes to temps and noise, better than reference. Also a little over two slot, so not very thick but it is 330mm in lenght.
I have written more about it in previous post. That being said if the difference was only 44 euro I would definitely pick up the XFX one. More beefy cooler, better looking, probably quieter and temps are better.
And three pins just if you would like to push it more. If it would fit in your case then go for it.
Over here difference between Gaming oc and Merc is over 200 euro so well in my case I didn't think it's worth it.

Thank you very much for your feedback.
I'm going for the XFX version !
Thank you very much.
looking forward to welcoming you to the RX 7000 club, where the cool guys hang out, sipping champagne whilst eating caviar! :rockout: :D

Ok I have a confession. As anyone reading this thread knows I was able to get a Sapphire Pulse 7900XTX. I was totally enjoying the card and had my Waterblock on order. When the block came I proceeded to take the card apart (I was drinking) and when I put it back together I got some really weird codes on my MB and no picture. Crestfallen, I put the card back together and the problem persisted. I was in a fine pickle until I remembered that the card was still under Retail Warranty.

I sent the card back to the retailer I bought it from. I got an email form them to contact them. I called them the next day and it seems there was some confusion but I was able to confirm my replacement. Approximately 2 hours later I got an email from the retailer that my order would be refunded. I went to look for another 7900XTX but it is out of stock but the Xt was readily available. When I looked there is a $400 difference in price between the Pulse 7900XT and XTX at $1299 vs $1699. After reading reviews of the 7900XT I am going to save $400 and get the Pulse 7900XT. I will probably have to use thicker thermal pads where the memory will be missing for my block but after a visual inspection I can see the parts of the PCB that are not filled vs the XTX and I suspect that Sapphire are using the same PCB for all 3 models but will confirm when my XT arrives. There will be no alcohol involved with that teardown and installation of that card.

I've just ordered on Amazon for 1208€ fdp in after 10 days of research on forum, YouTube and consulting reviews on internet.

I can't wait to receive it to replace my GTX 1080.

I will join the club really soon

You see? That's where it's great to be in countries other than my own in Asia. Any mod, removal of original (or distributer's stickers to mod the card), and you can kiss your warranty goodbye, it's null and void. They won't even entertain any sort of excuse or explanation whatsoever. That's why I'd thought of modding my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT, but was told that since temps is good, and the cooler is pretty darn good, I should well enough alone, and I am.

I can appreciate that and trust it used to be the same for me in terms of warranty service. However Gamers Nexus did an expose on Newegg and the 7900XTX has been much maligned so it could be that too.

Who was the seller? NR INFO? On amazon.pl they are the only ones that have 7900 XTX Merc in stock and the price is same as for my Gaming OC, so now wondering on the next step...

Yes I ordered on Amazon.fr from NR Info.
He has good feedback on the French community. (dealabs)
I checked so many reviews on this specific models of the 7900 xtx.
I have been convinced that it's the good one for me.
The only thing with the seller NR Info is that if you send back the card for coil whine, they refund only 80% even if it's on the 30 days periode. =/

In PL they don't have many reviews but checked FR and they in fact seem legit. Warranty would be more of a hassle I assume but well, send out is not hard. Now to return Gaming OC or to not return...

It's depend of your motivation. (OC? Noise? Design? Perf? )
I don't think that it's worth it but only you can tell.
Does the XFX could fit in your case? It's a long card.

I've got H7 Flow so it would fit, but I think I'm gonna pass. Too much hassle, for a little gain. But do post when you receive it, maybe that will change my mind

EDIT

If that would be Red Devil or Taichi from Asrock then it would be a different story for that price or even a little more expensive, but those are nowhere to be found :D

Yes, definitely.
I will post my first experience with the 7900xtx .
I'm very excited

Greetings,

i bought Sapphire RX7900XT Nitro+ Gaming OC paired with 13700K but i wonder will 1000W PSU be enough for GPU?

Welcome! IF that's a 1kW Gold/Platinum rated PSU from known brands like Corsair, Be Quiet!, Seasonic, Enermax, etc, then you should be fine. I'm gonna stick my MERC 310 RX 7900 XTX into my main rig, it has a three year old Corsair HX1000 Platinum that I'm pretty confident would do the job.

IF? Sapphire website says 800W minimum. Got Be Quiet Straight power 1000W

Well, I'd assumed your PSU was one you already have, IF brand new, then yes, 850W would be fine, but I'm a proponent of more power than 'sufficient'. Put it this way. IF my PSU were an 850W unit from 3 years back, I'd be a little antsy about using it with my new, power hungry card.

Glad I'm not the only one who saw that note; clearly martin has more work to do.

I regularly game with the overlay on (Ctrl+Shift+O) and I have a lot of confidence in AMD metrics there. Core, mem and power always logical in relation to one another, no bugs.

HWInfo still on in the background but everything is disabled except memory junction which Radeon doesn't monitor.

IF? Sapphire website says 800W minimum. Got Be Quiet Straight power 1000W

You'll be fine. AMD's XT recommendation is 750W and so is Sapphire's for the Nitro+.

Sapphire is reusing their XTX PCB so it looks like the XT still gets 3 x 8-pins, but the cut down Navi31 doesn't draw quite as much power as the Sapphire XTX cards. Max stock TBP slider is 355W, Sapphire says Nitro is 368W.

I wasn't so lucky with the SF750, but I'm pretty convinced mine was a rare case.

I assume you mean the XTX then? According to the review here, it has transient spikes of up to 570 W. The Be Quiet Straight Power 1000 W will be more than enough:

Currently testing 23.1.2 on a single 4K60 monitor, so my results are not really comparable. Default player size:

No difference from the previous driver. Front end and shader clocks are the same across all resolutions, so the increased power consumption is squarely due to elevated memory clocks. This was already evident in the launch review here, showing maximum VRAM clock during local 4K video playback:

Okay, so here's the 23.1.2 data, clean install as always, and polling rate reduced to 0.5sec:

7900xt 23.1.2 video playback small player.png
7900xt 23.1.2 video playback fullscreen.png

As expected, due to VRAM not downclocking, the oscillations in total board power are much reduced compared to 23.1.1, but the power difference due to core clock fluctuation is still very visible.

I have filed a bunch of bug reports on various things through the bug reporter, starting to feel like it's all falling on deaf ears. Maybe I can post on AMD forums or email them directly

As a refresher here's the 23.1.1 results:

You might need to post this on reddit to get a response from AMD.
