AMD RX 7000 series GPU Owners' Club

Checking in with a report on my 7900 XTX. I decided to go the other direction with the undervolt this time and see how low I could push the card. The following settings get me stock performance at 30W less power:

Very happy with this card and I am so thankful I managed to get it far before the current shenanigans with the GPU market.

(For the first time ever, my dyed-in-the-wool Nvidia user boss was considering a 7900 XTX too! The disastrous 5000 series has pushed him towards being unfaithful! :) )

Sorry if it's been asked, but what software is this? Looks like a Linux GPU tool that I didn't know existed?

New RX 9070 XT is such a piece of shit that i'm starting to think about buying used RX 7900 XTX
So my question is about undervolting is it possible to undervolt RX 7900 XTX from 360w to about ~310w without any performance loss or it depends more on silicon lottery ?
I had a bad experience with RX 7900 XT Pulse (absolute turd when it comes to undervolting) but good experience with RX 7800 XT Pure (@230watts about 1% faster than stock)

In my opinion UV is very important not only for power consumption but also for silent operation, lower temps and longer fan lifespan.

My Pulse 7900XTX is absolutely shit at undervolting, -25mV and it starts getting unstable. YMMV, there's people with agressive and successful UV'ing.

Sounds very similar to my old RX 7900 XT Pulse.

Any other brands ? ASRock, PowerColor, Asus, Gigabyte, XFX etc ? Maybe nitro works better.....

The Nitro+ range from Sapphire are their "top" of the line with all the "good" components but at the end of the day YMMV as no two cards are the same
As for powercolor I'd be looking at either the red devil or hell hound as the only difference between the two is the size of the cooler their reaper just seems to be a nothing special close to stock gpu as you'll get from them

Nitro+ 7900XTX here.
I’ve set the GPU from 1150mV to 1070mV and it pretty much holds to all games. Less demanding games can run even with 1050mV.
To run any 7900XTX at 310W without any performance loss is highly unlikely I think.
Nitro+ can go up to ~467W which is totally unnecessary. I’ve settled for 380W as this is an amount of heat that the 3+ slot cooler can handle easily keeping GPU below 75C, and VRam below 80C at 23C room. I may have to reduce power close to 350-360W at summer without A/C on.

Nitro+ fans are very good. They max out at 3200rpm and up to 2000-2100 they are very low noise, to me at least.

So I made an enquiry to PowerColor yesterday about the Red Devil 7900 XTX and unfortunately it seems it's been discontinued :( I've also replied and asked if the Hellhound is still being made, just waiting for their response. I'd like some form of PowerColor 7900 XTX to recommend to people!

EDIT: Wow, PowerColor clearly have real humans manning their support line! This arrived about a minute after my reply!

(For context: PCCG is a large supplier of parts in Australia).

7900XTX and 15months of usage.
Win10 home for the first month and later converted to Win11 home.
Card idled at around 22~28W with no mouse movement. Video playing was at 45-48W.
Opening HWiNFO sensors window full screen, it was instantly at 48W.

3 days ago I build new AM5 system (from AM4) with fresh Win11 home. The card now idles at 11-13W with occasional drop to 6-7W and keeps that with HWiNFO sensors window full screen. Video playing <40W sometimes < 30W.

Late to the party but a proud and very happy owner of a sapphire pulse Rx 7700 XT Massive upgrade over the Rx 5700 non X.

Im proud owner of a ASUS DUAL RX7800 XT 16GB for a couple of days now.

But i have a problem with ASUS GPU Tweak III

I have a 3 monitor setup (3x 1920x1080)
Everything works fine before i install GPU Tweak III
After installing it it wants to reinstall the PC
After rebooting it, there's a message that it's possible that the monitor will flicker for a moment. And it does that.
But after ~15 seconds it does it again, and then monitor 2 & 3 loose signal. I tried to enable it in Windows settings by the identification option, but it doesn't detect more monitors.

I have tried to reinstall the 25.4 and 25.3 updates, but it doens't help.
I have to remove GPU Tweak III, remove the adrenalin drivers, reboot and the monitors come back alive. after that, i can reinstall the latest 25.3. / 25.4 drivers again and no problems at all

But installing GPU Tweak III mess up something.

Other Software i can use for OC this card?

Adrenalin drivers have the OC settings built in.

Can any owners of 7800XT do me a favor? Install MSI Kombustor and run the first (GL) msi-01 test with Artifact Scanner setting enabled (disable any OC settings). Run it for a couple of hours and see if any artifacts are detected in the lower right corner. Thanks in advance

I do not use MSI Afterburner. AMD has a Stress test in Software that is good enough to tell you if you have a problem.

Kombustor, not Afterburner

AMD Ryzen Master?
No it's here in this part of the Radeon software control panel you open it by double clicking the AMD icon on your taskbar on the right next to your clock

Anyone?

Why a couple of hours any artifacts will show up within the first 5~10 mins if it going to do it at all

I just ran it on my Power Color Hell Hound RX7800XT and not a single problem 10 mins and temps were barely getting to 50c

Because artifacts pop up around the 30-45min mark, sometimes later for me. But only in that test

Two different systems exibit the same behavior, so I suspect a driver bug

Have you monitor VRAM (VRAM junction) temperature at all, along with GPU temp and GPU hotspot?
Artifacts could indicate a faulty VRAM, but in this case artifacts would appear from start and not 40min later.
Thats why I'm thinking temperature.

EDIT:
Maybe run your test for 40-50min and before stopping it, capture a screenshot of HWiNFO.
We may catch something out of order

Yes, all seems within reason. This is HWInfo after 20 minutes of running the test. 1 artifact detected. Statistics reset after staring the test.

Downclocked the core to 2300MHz, still error. Tried memtest_vulkan, and several other test within MSI Kombustor with an overnight test and no errors. A friend is running a Nitro+ (I have the Hellhound) on an Intel system and the same error appears. Which is why I believe it's a driver/software bug.

Play any games for more than 1 hour?
See anything weird there? Anything flickering or flash?

Yes from screenshot it doesnt show anything unusual.
That 2425MHz is the default VRAM speed?
What I know from my ~25years of experience is that artifacts usually are related with VRAM.
Maybe try to lower speed just for the test and see if anything changes. Or try to run higher fan speed to drop a few degrees on VRAM, again just for the test.
I know that 85C on VRAM is considered normal but just for the hell of it and to eliminate it from the equation. That and the speed of it.
