But on an AMD rig the gains of going DDR3 is slim to none. And you cant put on 6mb of L2. L3 does help more than one would think. Just not in the way of camp AMD.

You cant be serious with saying L3 doesnt help AMD procs, compare similarly clocked Athlons and Phenoms, the difference on most tests is 10 - 15%.

Also I wouldnt call a i7 920 mainstream, I wouldnt even call a i5 750 mainstream. Mainstream is $100 - $125 the way I look at it, now if you mean you moved from AMD's best processor in the new lineup to Intels lower end proc i nthe new lineup, thats true, but the statement earlier makes it sound like you are getting more proc for less money, when infact its a bit more, which you should see a gain for spending more money.

Intel enthusiast CPUs are 280+ where as AMDs enthusiast cpu is ~200 last time i looked. I paid 189 for an i5. 189 IS the mainstream for this class of cpu. P55 is teh cheap whereas X58 is teh expensive. Im going by bang for your buck. In price to performance Intel > AMD.

Edit: Just looked on Newegg. An i5 is 199 whereas a 965 is 195. So yea im callin mainstream vs their enthusiast. And as i said before, i doubt seriously their hexacore will be cheaper than the i5. My i5 stomps all over the 965.

If you did read, you illiterate son of a bitch, youd realize that i HAD all 3 top AMD chips and im saying that if their hexacore isnt priced around i5 (ZOMG TOPIC ALERT) it wont be competitive and since its not bulldozer (ZOMG TOPIC ALERT) there really isnt much to see here.
