Any better DDR1/AGP based cheap solution?

SOCKET 754
SOCKET 939

so that is $105 for the socket 754 and $116 for the socket 939 prices appear pretty damn close and both have 90nm CPU's hmmm. this is food for thought

where is the food for thought ? thats 2 low end cpus umm why u showing me a 3000+ for the 754 (edit i know why, because the best 754 cpu newegg have is this @ $175
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103005 <<< turion 2ghz single core

and guess what for the same price you can have this 939 dual core 4400+ at 2.2ghz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103542 hmmm price/performance that is food for thought

let me put into simple terms for you :)

939= better performance/upgradability over 754, 754= dead. the max is that 4000+ you mentioned what i havent seen and im sure it costs a hell of a lot more than a 939 equivalent. just cause you run 754 doesnt means its the dogs doodahs :)

their is nothing wrong with s754 it just isnt the best out their it still offers SLI and x-fire if you soft mod your nf4 board s939 does NOT = better performance upgrade yes but s754 are known to be good FAST chips

oh and here is a 4000+ hell they sell it at bestbuy http://www.bestbuybusiness.com/bbfb...true&productID=BB10668559&websrc=FRBB10668559
and thats 2.6ghz or FX-55 for skt939 which last time a checked was way more expensive

Do you have any problems with Intel and 865PE?
Not yet :)
Go ahead...

price-performance ratio cdawall which is it ? 939 or 754 ? and im not talking low end 3000+ chips cause thats not a step up from an xp 3200+

no they are fine and the 865PE is conroe capable if you get the one with a 1066fsb
agp ddr1 and conroe

You can get the ASRock ConRoe865PE in Europe and ASIA. It supports almost all Intel CPU's from Celeron D 3xx up to Intel QX6700 quads! It uses AGP and DDR1!

lol and whats ur point ? turion 4000+ over fx57 ?? waita ebay it aswell

kk im not gettin into this anymore the original point is long dead, i have shown that with your example the turion 4000+ 754 that the fx57 939 is better performance/price wise, also 939 optys will kick the shit out of your 3700+ or turion but we werent talking oc. im refusing to partake in this pleasant but enduring war of words now end of.

as someones sig on here says " fighting on the internet is like competing in the special olympics, either way your still retarded" <<<<or somthing to that effect lol

Yeah, I am using one right now. I got a P4 571 in it, and the jumper is set to 800Mhz FSB. If I put in a Core 2 Duo I just move the jumper to 1066Mhz FSB! Check it out at AsRock Global ant look at hth CPU Support List!

Okay, I think I´m gonna buy this ASRock ConRoe865PE and a Core2 Duo E6300.
That´s 206 Euros plus custom HSF- seems to be a nice price for a low-cost upgrade from socket A to Core2! :)

On the CPU support list ASRock say, that only "non-L2" Conroes are supported for overclocking mode. What does that mean, E6300 compared to E6300(L2)?

It looks like you've got a MasterPlan! Intel is supposed to drop the price of Core2Duo in Jan-07. The E6700 is set to drop to $318. US. There are a few threads in Germany from guys doing Bios mods for the ConRoe865PE. Good luck, and Happy Holidays!

Peach1971, I see you have a question about (L2 support in overclocking mode). I've been looking for info and I don't know what they are talking about. I do know that they just released a 1.60 bios on 12-28-06. I'm looking to get some DDR 600 memory in the future because of the 3:2 divider on my board.
