Along the lines of what was done with the 800 vivo / xtpe bios flash to enable 16 pipes? Completed sucessfully thanks to TPU btw - thanks!

A few reports of 1950xt heat / artifact trouble (with sapphire) have sent me back to look at 1950pro cards, but they are only 12 pipes. Or does it matter?

I would think someone might have thought of a way to unlock those pipes, by now. Perhaps someone on here has better info.

The X1950 pro uses a different core than the X1950 XT and XTX. The X1950 pro uses a RV570 core and the XT and XTX versions use a R580. Therefore no unlockable pipes/shader processors due to different cores.

Doh! that sucks. On the other hand, get and XT and you should be able to mod it to an XTX (saves you, what, like 50 bucks?)

I was hoping to get the 16 pipes out of a 1950pro card with 512 mb ram. I have not found a 1950xt with 512mb, unless I move up to xtx which is out of price range.

Thanks for the info.

Any comments / experience with sapphire / diamond 1950xt and overheating issues? All my negative info came from newegg reviews (anonymous more or less) - so it could be competitors trying to blackball sapphire.

As far as I knew, I thought the XT had DDR3 mem and the XTX had DDR4 mem. I didn't think you could mod xt to xtx.
