This is a thread where we can discuss AVP. I think it's super exciting hardware and software for XR/AR (I think we are dropping MR). This could be my first Apple device. I'll start adding more to this OP as the thread grows with information about AVP.

The ~$3500 USD price tag makes it a no go for me. Add to that the lack of emphasis on gaming and it becomes a "Hell No!!!".

However, notice the "Pro" in the name of the product. So just like an iPad Pro there should be more cost effective options in the line of products. So maybe there will be an Ultra version and an SE version. Even still the entry level model won't likely be cheap by any stretch of the imagination. While an Apple M2 or M3 class chip may be more powerful then anything currently from Qualcomm, if it won't game in a proper VR way then its of little use to me.

It would be great to be able to access my triple monitor setup remotely with something like the Vision pro, but RDP or similar will suffice in a pinche (and be a lot cheaper). I can get by without this but since Apple is doing this, there is almost no chance that the Apple feature set in the Vision Pro won't be mimicked by other manufacturers down the line.

I can get by without this but since Apple is doing this, there is almost no chance that the Apple feature set in the Vision Pro won't be mimicked by other manufacturers down the line.

There has been leaks that Samsung is working on something. Hopefully, they show their hand soon. I upgraded my phone this year and I almost went Apple. My wife and kids have apple and most of my coworkers, but I got a Galaxy s23 ultra. I did this because Samsung is working on one as well. Plus, I have the new galaxy buds pro.

I'll be curious to see what they have cut down for the non pro version. I don't think they can take the depth sensor, lidar, or eye tracking from it. I think the non pro won't have the front screen to cut down on cost.

While these can do VR I don't think we can say that they are just VR glasses. These have just as much AR as it does VR. I know where you are coming from that you are just looking at a camera view on a display. But this has more AR features than VR. We are a long ways off from something like a Hololens device that does what the Vision Pro does for AR. The Tech is just not there yet. The Vision Pro/Quest Pro/Quest 3 will be the way we handle AR for now. So we have to redefine what we call AR devices.

There isn't a VR hmd/glasses that can do what the Vision Pro does. Example Quest 3 is branded as a mixed reality device that can do VR. It's not branded as a VR device.

Apparently, Cupertino didn’t learn the lesson here and the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro “spatial computer” is on the heavy side.

It is heavier but still less weight than the Quest 2, plus better balanced. The same will go for Quest 3. It's close to the same weight as the Quest 2 but it more balanced to where you don't feel the weight due to the pancake lenses. The Quest Pro is 722g and Quest 2 is 503g. The Quest Pro still feels lighter than Quest 2 as well.

Everyone that gets one will have huge traps after a few months of use after putting it on and off. j/k lol

For Apple fans who don't think $3,500 for an augmented reality headset is expensive enough, Caviar, a provider of luxury custom hardware, has a solution.
This company comes with a modified version of Apple's headset that should cost no less than $ 39,900.
For that money you get a bulky device, because it consists of 1.5 kilograms of 18-carat gold.
Furthermore, the headband is made of 'Connolly leather', which is also used in Rolls-Royce cars and the British Royal Court.

I think it’s a launch product that will be to help get the devs started. Like all this stuff, it will get better and cheaper with time. From how the rumors went, even this hardware and software was barely ready for launch. In 5 years, I suspect we’ll have more “everyday” products to chose from.

I’m still trying to decide if I will ever take an interest in such things.

Does the weight of the Apple Vision Pro include the cable and the external pocket device necessary for it to function? If not those numbers are skewed.

Are the built-in speakers the only option for sound? I'm supposed to be able to interact, watch movies and listen to music in a crowded/noisy place?

Looks like you could comfortably use in-ear wired or wireless. Can anyone confirm there is no secondary sound option?
