Anyone else experiencing this problem? While playing GTA5, it crashes and I get this message.

That's an awesome desktop background you've got there. :)

I was hoping you had some answers lol but thanks anyway! :)

Remove the drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller and download and install the latest drivers.

I am running a GTX 970 with the latest drivers from NVIDIA. I have removed them now, and reverted to previous drivers. Lets see what happens.

Is that what he asked you to do? Did you use DDU?

Yeah sorry, I was out with friends and on my smartphone at the time.

Looking at this more closely now on my PC, if rolling back the drivers didn't fix it, I think it's actually Windows Defender blocking the application by the looks of it and not a driver issue at all. Try to either whitelist GTA5.exe or disable Windows Defender and see how it goes.

Great find @xorbe, thanks for that! :)

I actually think you might be 100% correct. I did not have this problem until I had to reinstall windows from "creator's update" to Anniversary update. Or maybe its Microsoft forcing me to update Windows? Dono. But I have added GTA5.exe as exclusion wherever I could. I even reset my GPU overclock, which was modest and nothing extreme. Lets see what happens.

No, that happens when the video driver crashes (TDR) too much in a row in a program (GTAV in this case), so Windows, to avoid total system crash, blocks the program from using the driver, hopefully stopping the crashes,.

Besides, Windows 10 doesn't blank the screen after a TDR event so it's harder to notice
I say that because I got the same issue when OC'ing my card with any game :)

****Just and update****
I reverted back to drivers 378.92 and issue has seemingly disappeared. I assume that perhaps the new drivers (381.65) were the cause.

381.65 is a weird set of drivers. It might be the new WDDM model they use, no idea. Anyways, I had the same issue but with an old game (Silent Hunter 5), it would crash when vsync was disabled of all things and give the same message on subsequent launches. I thought it was just an old game compatibility glitch, seeing your post I think it's more than that.

I think I will skip the 381.65 drivers this time. I wont be upgrading to the "Creator's Update" for Win10 either, since it made my system act strange, with up to double the amount of processes I currently run on the Anniversary Update, which is around 70. And this is with selective start up. I don't know what Microsoft is doing, sadly :(

A clean install of Creators Update in my hands on (which I'll post someday in the reviews section, honest) saw no such issues. However, to be frank, it could simply be an issue of doing an upgrade rather than a clean install. There are so many reasons Microsofts policy of doing frequent "core updates" (really OS upgrades are what they are) is a bad idea, that I can't stress it to them enough. I wish they'd go back to a stable core once and for all, but meh, they don't listen to me. Something about making millions and me barely being able to afford my internet bill, I'm sure.

I do a clean install on all my core updates. But that's not for everyone, I totally understand.
