Arc or not to Arc

I see. So intel now runs all apis natively. Wow, thats impressive. I must have been on outdated info. I'm totally on team arc here, so thats music to my ears.
I don't know exact reason why they resorted to using the wrapper for ARC, could be that they were rushed. DX9 still could use more optimizations, but the big part(not being native) is fixed now. Tom Peterson mentioned it few months ago.

Why does everyone assume/think that drivers can come out a lab & be prefect?
This the most unrealistic part of everyone talking about ARC since it launched.
Labs cannot have the vast diversity of setups that out there to make prefect drivers.
Nvidia & AMD always release updated drivers for newer games that release too.
Hi,
It's a darn good reason to pass though which looks like is happening seeing the prices of arc
Not to mention intel is usually full of security holes just for speed and did intel leave swiss cheese on ark to fix the drivers
Guinea pig items aren't recommended for novice they should stick with tried and true products unless they have money to burn.

I'd hard pass.

Ive just ordered a A770 LE 16gb just to see what all the fuss is about but its for a 18core xeon rigg ive been playing about with but im not sure if it has resizable bar as its one of those Frankstine boards from China it only has pcie 3 too so i might of shot me self in the foot but its a good excuse to tell the misses Im building another rigg eh :)

Get an A770; most of the people commenting have zero hands on experience with it. Arc gets better with every driver release.

PCIe 3.0 isn't an issue. Rebar as you are aware of, is. Since they don't make that card anymore, it's still a good purchase as a collector's item even if the board won't do rebar. And eventually you can transplant it into a more modern system where it can deliver full performance.

yes bud i could all ways put in my main rigg ive seen byski do a nice water block and back plate for a little over £100.

The very reputable German PC-Games Hardware-Magazine retested Intel Arc with the newest Drivers.

The Perfomance of the ARC A770 16GB is now better then the NVIDIA RTX 4060 and the AMD RX 7600:

https://www.pcgameshardware.de/Arc-...RX-7600-Battlemage-Release-Benchmark-1436321/

No more Bugs, Glitches, no Grafics-Artifacts with a very nice Perfomance - Intel has done great Work in the last Weeks. Bad for Team Green- and Red- Fan-Crew.

dont say there gone and fixed it, i was hoping for something less boring than my 3080 i mean with the 3080 we change memory pads undervolt it and thats it i was hoping the a770 was a bit more "spicy" hands on :) .

crikie that arrived qwick.

darn sorry pics outa focus, says a lot about me i can take hi/deff pics of sunspots but carn't take a norm pic what a div eh :)

just played my first game "bioshock remastered" i allways like to run the classic first and it run great hit 2400 about 52 temp and on the Xeon with no rebar, im going to run it through my steam games apart from the VR ones as intel still hasnt sorted VR drivers out yet but ive heard i can get a app for the quest 2 which will let it run some. ill let everybody know how i get on.

a hour and half on bioshock 2 remastered, i think its looking better than my Nvidia card locked at 100fps but i did get a pop up at the start saying my gpu is not supported.

Doom the remake running on vulcan works perfect.
metro ex the same dx12.

what would i see as to not running Rebar what would i see as performance because its running just fine and dandy so far dare i say better than a 2080 and maybe getting near a 3070 ?.

Hmm, this might motivate many readers here to switch to an Intel video card. If they have old or slower video cards and don't have the budget for AMD/Nvidia models. As long as they are not too weak power supplies.

thanks bud, thats why i brought one just to see for myself, i was interested how it would run on a Xeon with no rebar. ive a RM850e which is more than enough to run the a770 and 18 core. up to now im chuffed with how the a770 is performing.

You can try some of the games W1z tested late last year to see how it goes - https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-arc-a770-pcie-3-resizable-bar/

I haven't tried anything without rebar since I've owned my A750 and A380. I probably should for science. Forza Horizon 5 and especially Guardians of the Galaxy tanked hard without it in his testing.

Probably you must first update or add with your latest system configuration in profile. ;)
What you think about Cyberpunk 77 below Vulcan APi? Maybe double test below DirectX in second part?

bud this a testbench theres not enough space to fit all my riggs in the right place i only put my 2 main riggs in system specs :), ive just started downloading cp but my internet is so slow today a club footed snail is faster, yes ill try the dx.

ive just had a look and my test bench specs are
E5-2699
MR9A pro motherboard
64gb 2133 in quad chan.
240mm aio
1 tb m.2
1 tb ssd
RM850e PSU
HAF evo testbench
and A770 16gb LE

I have the A770 working on my X99 system but the ReBAR thing doesn't work of course, so often have pop ups and sometimes some funky-ness with the drivers & monitor flickering off and on. But I bought it for video editing. I initially got the Asrock A380 (which for some reason ended up being non-functioning, so returned) but then splurged again when the Predator BiFrost was on sale last month because I thought it just looked so awesome design wise. I think even the cheapest Arc card is worth it for editing at least if you don't have the decoder/encoder hardware already and/or are deciding on value from a 3000/4000 series RTX card. Or heck, even worth it to add as a 2nd GPU to help with rendering now that it works in Adobe Premiere. I was using a AMD WX 9100 Pro card with it. I think the A380 even was on sale for $99 on Newegg recently and I saw on the TPU front page some half-height/low-profile cheaper versions have come out too. I tried gaming on it but just kept having flickering issues. But it's hard to say conclusively if it's my old hardware, the card itself, my monitor or some config issue.

Is there a desk in there somewhere?? :)

I've been looking at ARC on and off as well.
The 8GB 750 is close to the same price as an RX7600 here in Canada.

I wish @W1zzard would run the 8GB 750 arc in the next gpu review with latest drivers.

This concerned me because it was the newest game I had at the time.

Yes, Intel Arc is listed there but not presented in graph's with results from tests.
Correct, because too slow. anything specific you are looking for ?

If you offer something for comparison, show it in a picture. Otherwise it is pointless to be listed. There are also tests of light games and low resolutions. As bad as it, there are enough situations that are playable with the Ark 750 8GB. I now that you know results and they are in your brain but I'm didn't has talent to telepathy.

I can run the canned benchmark for Borderlands 3 on my A750LE for you if you'd like.

Thanks!!

I don't think Borderlands 3 is still part of the reviewed games though?

So at 1080p its about equivalent to an RX6600/3060
and at 4k about equal to an RX7600/3060

So this review should be accurate then.

sorry 20 edits - still waking up
