Best thing about 10 was cost, hell I still have an unused Windows 7 Professional key as well as another I can use to activate 10.

Got bored of waiting for the gpu prices to go down so stop looking for one, until I upgrade by GPU I kind of lost interest in playing games.
Last thing I found interesting was Gamepass cloud gaming on my phone with Razer mobile controller other than that my daily driver become my XPS 2015 laptop that has Ubuntu 21.04.
However corporate desktop space is O365/Windows.
I wondered which GPU you had that was too long in the tooth for games to keep you interested...1070 you have isn't terrible I guess but yeah for a lot of newer games you'd really have to dial back settings to get it smooth whatsoever. I have a 1080ti which thankfully was best I could get for gaming in that gen. of cards and haven't tried it with newest games but suspect it would at least be adequate at moderate settings. However, like you I want a newer GPU but the prices went batty before I tried to upgrade

Loaded a VM with Win 11 will pass interface is crap, looks like it was designed for a touch tablet. Nothing wrong with win 10 pro.

Honestly the 1070 still does the job but the upgrade itch will always be there. :D
Right before the 3060ti came out I missed on a deal on 1080ti for $250 I would have totally fine with that card.

Exactly, I don't know the 1070 specs but just in relation to 1080ti I know it must be significantly slower in the generation. So yeah I'm sorry you missed the $250 deal! That woulda been sweet and yes it is pretty decent for most games especially if you get a good overclocker!

On my desktop I primarily run Ubuntu, I like stability so I stick to the LTS releases.

As of late, I've been testing out the latest release from Mint because I'm seriously considering a switch. I've never liked the Gnome 3 desktop, I think they're doing their best to polish a turd...but it'll never be half as good as the old Unity DE was...from my perspective at least.

I'm tired of fumbling with something I just don't care for...hence the switch to Mint.

I'm still keeping a Windows 10 partition on my pc, but I think when I do the reinstall I'm going to get rid of Windows once and for all. I no longer need it for anything...even all of my games are running just fine on Linux and have been for awhile.

So, Windows 11? Meh. They probably should have called it Windows 10.1. I didn't see anything of interest when I took a look and frankly...some of what I saw felt like Microsoft is taking a few step's back. Again...from my perspective.

I guess the only thing I'm excited about and I've already mentioned it once is the Steam Deck. Looking forward to that...it's about the only product I've genuinely been excited about in years.

Best Regards,

Liquid Cool
