someone was using my pc and ran a .exe which installed a program called virus burst. i was able to remove all of the programs but i cannot figure out how to remove the icon that sits in my systray. anyone have ideas?

system restore.

If there's an icon in the systray doesn't that mean it's still running in the background?

Run MS config... it does a decent enough job of patrolling most all, if NOT all, possible startup areas (assuming this thing has not embedded itself inside of another .exe @ the ending of it, changing jump tables & such).

P.S.=> The mention of using a restore point above is a good idea also imo... good luck! apk

And call the police. Make him get caught.

Taskmgr.exe SHOULD show that trayicon app's name in its PROCESS list tab... use it!

(& then use msconfig to pull it from wherever it is starting from (startup groups, registry, & other spots ARE possible)).

Good luck!
