Not sure if anyone is interested in Asrock's AM5 version of their Deskmeet series expect for me but here is a little:

From the information I have been able to find AsRock should release their AM5 Deskmeet called Deskmeet X600 in about 2days from now on the 25th of May 2024 and it seem it's already available in Japan and looks like German online store Jacob.de also have 48 units in stock.

AsRock: https://www.asrock.com/nettop/AMD/DeskMeet X600 Series/index.asp

Current price on jacob.de is 261.26euros

The release was originally delayed because AsRock was waiting on more am5 SKUs to be released from AMD, I got this reply in a email from Asrock themselves.

Quote: Pending on more power efficient CPU availability, we will have the Deskmeet X600 around end of Q3. Thank you! (This email was received on 9th of May, 2023).

I have been waiting for this because I want to replace my current Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q with something AMD based that can also do a little gaming on the side.

I've been looking forward to this one: https://www.asrock.com/Nettop/AMD/DeskMini X600 Series/index.asp

Basically a smaller variant of the Deskmeet. Should go well with one of the newer 8xxxG APUs once they drop in price a bit.

Only possible fly in the ointment that I see there is the HDMI port, which the manual mentions is TMDS so 18Gbps max. The same manual also mentions 8G however, which would match the FRL4 32Gbps spec of other ASRock AM5 boards. May shoot them a ticket/mail to see if I can get that clarified. (the Deskmeet does mention FRL explicitly, but considering the wording is the exact same otherwise I have a feeling they just missed that)

AsRock is always very friend from my experience to answer when there is a question about their products.

It sounds like to me like TMDS is like DSC (Display Stream Compression) for DP so you can get higher res and hz over a signal that usually doesn't support it.

HDMI is a bit confusing, but TMDS signaling is what the older (pre-2.1) standards used, and is limited to 18Gbps bandwidth. There's sadly a lot of fake "HDMI 2.1" products around that still only support TMDS, and the only thing 2.1 about them is that they support some of its feature set.

Proper high-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 uses a newer signaling mode (FRL#, where # is the number of lanes), and most of ASRock's AM5 products support FRL4 (4 lanes) with an 8Gbit/lane (= 32Gbps) bandwidth. It's one of the reasons I like ASRock so much -- most other manufacturers are still limited to 18Gbps on most if not all of their AM5 boards. Pretty crazy in 2024, but here we are...

I've opened a support ticket with ASRock, will report back. (and yeah, I can confirm the solid support -- asked them another HDMI-related question a while back and got a few surprisingly in-depth replies)

EDIT: For those who are wondering why the higher bandwidth matters to me, it allows 4k120 output at 4:4:4 chroma with 8-bit color. An APU won't have enough grunt to drive that in more recent games, but if you pipe output to it from another device (like, say, a big meaty gaming system streaming over the network) you can display it in its full glory! (unless it's HDR, but dropping to 4:2:2 chroma shouldn't affect games too badly)

Hello,

My colleagues in Taiwan say this was not an oversight. FRL is not officially supported with DeskMini X600.

Kind regards,

Yikes, that's a shame. Just sent them a follow-up mail asking what the "8G Compatible" part in the manual means if not that, but this isn't too promising so far.

Oh yea!
This is great but only 120w :(
Supports PRO CPU's but not ECC RAM :( :kookoo: :banghead: Why Asrock why!

EYPC 4004 and ECC support and this would be a kick ass little server box.

It can go higher with a 180W or bigger wattage power brick. It will probably ship with the 120W though.

This is the DeskMini, I am talking about the DeskMeet, it's a bit bigger, have 4 fullsize dimm slots and more.

This is the model I am keen on but I am not sure if going with a AMD Ryzen 5 8600G would be the right choice but onboard graphics could be great to do older games on while it's running as my server because performance on the G series are better than the non-x and like Intel UHD/Iris Graphics that my Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q has now.

My current does The Saboteur at 720p 60fps without much hiccups but I would like to do other games to since it's still 4-4.1 times lower power usage than my current gamer.

Seems like it was worth poking them again for the DeskMini HDMI thing!

Hello,

There was a mistake. Our R&D says that DeskMini X600 has actually passed FRL certification.

The user manual has been updated:

https://download.asrock.com/Manual/X600M-STX.pdf

So, DeskMeet X600 and DeskMini X600 have the same HDMI specs.

Sorry for the confusion :)

Kind regards,

Huge. Second time contacting them for a technical question, and it was just as good as last time. Good showing, ASRock.

(I'll let the discussion get back to the DeskMeet now, just wanted to wrap up my earlier comments)

Will this one actually support the X3d chips this tie around? Will the power supply still be a fire hazard?

If need to read AsRock's site:
1. To support 105W CPUs, please install CPU water cooler and adjust the CHA_Fan1/WP mode to Water Pump under BIOS.
(Graphics Card and water cooler are sharing the same location, so you can only use either one)

But it also shows up to 65W so you can even put in a 500W cpu if AMD made this for the AM5 but you will be limited to 65W maybe a bit higher, haven't tested the device since I haven't brought it my money wallet ain't deep.

It doesn't stop me from wanted one with like a AMD Ryzen 7 8700G for really good gaming performance from the AMD Radeon 780M which can blast through older titles but also do low details on newer titles and outperformance any Intel onboard graphics.

If they actually HAVE a 105w mode, that could be usable. That being said, skip the water cooler, replace that fire hazard of a PUS with a 500w HDPLEX unit, then install a proper air cooler.

I just wish asrock would sell the case as a DIY model.

Is the (old) DeskMeet PSU that bad? Thought I read before that it was an okay model, just not very efficient.

(and if it is, got any links? would love to read more)

Okay, than AsRock might need to be a little more clear in their statement because supporting is one thing and actually using the full wattage is another.

Is the PSU really that bad? I mean if I am planning to on running a APU?

On another note is that I seen several people actually reporting that the 7800X3D runs at max about 95W out of the box not 120W as listed.

I don't know if it's that bad but I think it would have been better if AsRock would have not included the PSU to drive down the cost of the unit. Buying a unit like that I would tend to replace the PSU with SFX to get more CPU cooler headroom and possibly make a custom ATX to SFX bracket to maximize the space available. (It looks like a standard ATX size PSU but maybe it's not.)
