Hi
recently i bougt a 4870 graphic card. after installing it when i play a dvd or mpg2 files on windows media player the screen jumping like splashing. i installed K-Lite Softwrare and played dvd on media player classic , my problem solved but in windows media player the problem is like before. what is the problem ? ( i`m using Vista SP1 X64 )

in windows 7 build 7057 x64 i have this problem too and after istalling K-lite , in media player classic my problem didn`t solved.
and while windows indexing files on vob and mpg2 files screen jumping again.

please help me. i think if i can default k-lite mpg2 codecs for windows my problem will be slove.

waiting for your answers
thanks

thanks for answering. i download cccp , nice codec , but didn`t solved my problem . i think you didn`t understande my problem , when i play a dvd , vob file , whole screen will jump not only the screen of windows media player.

HELP :(

without installing any codec and program in windows 7 i have this problem .
in windows vista after installing k-lite and playing files on media player classic will be ok but in windows media player no. in windows 7 the problem without or with codec exist.

before using Ati 4870 1gb i didn`t have this problem.
in games i have no problem, i think 4870 1gb is great but i don`t know why vob and mpg2 files .....

Hey i found the problem , i think you can help me to solve it. i installed cccp . and i renamed a vob file to mpg file , i opened it with windows media player , problem solved!! in the task bar behind the windows clock haali media splitter and ffdshow audio decoder loaded. but after i changed the file to vob again problem returned and anything loaded behind windows clock ( i mean haali media splitter and ffdshow audio decoder ) .

i must do something when i play a vob file , haali media splitter and ffdshow audio decoder must be load

Obviously the problem is to do with windows media player using the default codecs, which cant handle vob files.

When you change the file association, the codecs from the CCCP are kicking in and the problem goes away.

I have a 4870 as well and havent seen this problem, i'd say your problem is definately not the video card, and is in fact related to the default codec your system is using.

Its hardly going to solve your problem, but i'd just suggest you rename the files as you have tried, or just stop using windows media player.

Probably just a corrupt codec.

I had issues with PowerDVD installed and the H264 codec that came with my camcorder. I ended up having to uninstall PowerDVD.

ok. just one thing . if i won`t use windows media player but in windows 7 just after clicking at mpg2 files and vob files ( not playing it ) and while indexing i have the problem too . and after playing with any media player i have this problem :(

in windows 7 i clicked on a mpg2 file , screen jumed and jumped after that windows said ati driver not responding and after that the problem solved. if i restart windows the problem will back agian.

i`m confused :(

what build of windows 7 are you on, and what codecs do you have installed. That means any DVD/movie playing software, even the ones that come with itunes, camcorders etc.

windows 7 build 7057 x64 . without installing any program i have this problem. after installing cccp and k-lite still have the problem. when i click at mpg2 files at windows 7 screen will jump , if this problem slove i have no problem

In my opinion this is a problem with the build you have. Since 7057 was never publicly released, few of us have it and therefore its hard for us to give help with its specific bugs and errata.
With a 4870 (and an IGP 3200) and build 7000 i have no problems

yesterday i used another motherboard , it was onboard ati graphic , in both windows vista and 7 i didn`t have problem but exactly after using ati 4870 my problem return. what is this problem , it made me crazy

if the problem only occurs when the 4870 is installed but not with ATI onboard, then i would be RMAing the card. It cant be codecs or drivers if another card that uses the same drivers is problem free.

you mean my graphic card have a problem ?

its almost unheard of for a card to screw up video rendering but still do 3D stuff fine, but its not impossible.

At this stage its either the video card is faulty, or the extra heat/power draw from the bigger card is causing the same problem on two different systems. The video card is the more likely option.

Avivo is hardware acceleration. Look in media players advanced options, i beleive there is a tickbox related to it.

there is avivo in catalyst control center , but i don`t know which option is best for me to disble avivo completely for windows. there is no hardware acceleration on windows media player but there on powerdvd

i found how to diable hardware acceleration , in windows vista , right click on desktop then personalized then display then advanced setting , troubleshoot . i must click at change setting but for me is not active. what i must do?

bottom tickbox, this is under 7 but the setting should be there in vista.

Also, dont double post. edit.

sorry ok. it`s just for wmv files. i did this and not worked

honestly i dont know. Thats all i had to try.

Can you try uninstalling powerDVD and seeing if the problem goes away... its possible that powerDVD has installed its codec into windows media player, and WMP is defaulting the acceleration to on.
