I am at near wits end with this GPU.

I will be working on web development and watching youtube and every now and then the display is lost then comes back with the error that the drivers crashed (latest drivers). When I am also doing such work, I will be watching youtube on another monitor and it will auto adjust the video quality to the lowest for some reason.

Any suggestions? Is it the card and crap drivers or is there something else I am missing? I disabled the zero RPM for the fans as well as the Radeon Chill. But cant think of anything else atm.

Turn off hardware acceleration in the browser. I found with the newest release of AMD drivers both Google Chrome and Brave Browser will cause a driver crash when viewing youtube and rumble
videos.

The last driver I had been using prior was AMD_Software_Installer_22.5.2 and was not getting crashes with my rx6600 although at the time I had forgotten I had disabled hardware acceleration for Google but Brave still had it enabled.

Is it the lastest WHQL 22.6.1 or Beta 22.7.1? Because if it's the Beta driver try the WHQL because some have issues with the beta and if it's the WHQL try underclock the GPU and see this fixes the problem if not try the ram too,

If nothing works RMA the card.

I am using 22.7.1 Beta with everything in my Brave browser to default when it comes to hardware decoding and I do not have any issues with my PowerColor RX 6800 XT Red Devil

It's worth a try and not the first time this issue keeps cropping up with AMD.

I would RMA the card.

Despite what some people here might think, there should be no need to delve into advanced driver configuration settings or underclocking the card for basic stable functionality.

You could also try using an older driver prior to 22.6.1. I had to do that a few times in the past 3 years.

I agree unfortunately AMD seems to keep having a regression on this issue. Driver 22.5.2 didn't have this problem for me.

yes, but AMD isn't known for Driver Stability.

Another thing I noticed with this card - I would be playing a game and I cannot watch a youtube video at same time too. It just lags horribly. I had replaced my RTX 3060 for this card as I sold the RTX 3060 and honestly I regret doing that; as I was able to watch youtube at same time as playing the same games. Judging by reviews, this GPU is supposed to be on par with a 3060.....

I don't understand why you would sell the RTX 3060 just to get RX660. That doesn't make sense to me at all.

Question. By "Dual RX6600" do you mean you have two rx6600 or just an rx6600 with dual fans?

Dual is the name of a low-end ASUS graphics card product family that features two fans as part of its thermal solution.

Current ASUS graphics card families from lowest to highest: Phoenix (single fan) < Dual (two fans) < KO (two fans) < TUF Gaming < ROG Strix

Not all card families are offered with each GPU model. You won't find a ROG Strix Radeon RX 6400. You won't find a Phoenix GeForce RTX 3090 Ti either.

I dont understand the call to RMA the card. AMD drivers are just poor.

Ive been on 22.7.1 and had all the crashes, blackscreens and 'driver recoveries' - 22.6.1 has its own issues but is less in your face problematic than 22.7.1.

I updated to 22.7.1 through adrenalin then rolled it back 5mins later when i found HW acceleration with chrome was completely broken and running the mouse cursor over thumbnails on YT would cause everything to lag, freeze up, stutter and blackscreen.

I have a 'dual' and even though it only has two fans. the heatsink is very thick.

That's subjective. The thickness is relative to ASUS's product families. The Dual's heatsink is going to be thinner than a KO or TUF Gaming model.

At least in the past ASUS tried to make the Dual model a 2-slot card so it would fit in smaller PC cases. Don't know if that's still applicable for the current Ampere/RDNA2 generation.

I would say my card has the same thickness as the MSI Gaming X card.

I have a lot of GPU's. But I used the RX 6600 over the 3060 as I couldn't sell the RX 6600 so I sold the RTX 3060. I had both cards prior.

It is the Asus Dual RX 6600. Not Dual GPU's. I know, confusing name.

I don't know anything about MSI graphics card marketing but yah, the current ASUS Dual RX 6600 is a 2.5 slot card according to ASUS's corporate website. Impressively porcine for a consumer targeted graphics card!

Try 22.7.1 that driver you have gave me nothing problems. Since I have been running 22.7.1 only one Game crash and it went to the desktop instead of shutting down. Otherwise it has been rock solid (knock on wood).

I'll give this driver a try.

And I should mention, 22.6.1 isn't even on the website listed now. I wonder if they pulled it due to issues? Its 22.5.1 from what I can see.

Hardware acceleration has been a problem since the very first version of internet explorer was introduced

I'll give this driver a try.

And I should mention, 22.6.1 isn't even on the website listed now. I wonder if they pulled it due to issues? Its 22.5.1 from what I can see.

Use the enterprise driver

I don't understand why you would sell the RTX 3060 just to get RX660. That doesn't make sense to me at all.

Question. By "Dual RX6600" do you mean you have two rx6600 or just an rx6600 with dual fans?

I have a lot of GPU's. But I used the RX 6600 over the 3060 as I couldn't sell the RX 6600 so I sold the RTX 3060. I had both cards prior.

It is the Asus Dual RX 6600. Not Dual GPU's. I know, confusing name.

Ok if the card was a dual gpu (2 dies 1 pcb) it would be a X2 model. Asus dual name has been around since the R9 300 series or RX 400 series. Dual just means 2 fans.

@sepheronx never mentioned crossfire or mgpu.

Also it should just work correctly when Hardware Acceleration is enabled, in any browser...

Have you thought about trying the 22Q2 Radeon Pro drivers instead normally these are much more stable than the gaming ones

And I should mention, 22.6.1 isn't even on the website listed now. I wonder if they pulled it due to issues?

Not sure... According to reddit, AMD has a habit of pulling the old drivers when newer ones are released. Unfortunately im not able to substantiate this claim as i have been through too much reddit to dig through to find the comment i read. Its 100% on the AMDHelp subreddit somewhere.

They have kept older drivers on since the days of the Radeon 9700 Pro.

I'll give this driver a try.

Yes it is
