ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Astral OC

Imagine paying the premium Asus is asking for, just to get this kind of engineering lol
Such buffonery on the Astrals, I'm kinda intrigued how the TUF and PRIME will perform. Not that I'll buy any of them.

The only model worth considering in Canada right now is the Asus Prime.

The rest is overpriced garbage.

Really wish they had supplied the card for review that people actually want to buy.

The only model worth considering around launch time is none. Let it settle, the cards aren't going away ;)

Would you believe me if I told you here in Brazil there's a shop (pre)selling the PRIME for higher than an MSI SUPRIM Liquid? While another one was pricing it below every other 5080 (and the Astral just a touch over the TUF and not skyhigh)?

That price... At least no TPU awards on this Asus card... If you want raster performance, the 7900xtx looks a lot better value, will tweakable to bridge the 18% peformance gap a fair bit as well.
7900xt looks just so bad afther DLSS and framegen.. its just bad!
Why anyone else than real Amd warrior buy it now?
But looking marketshares, only loyal fans buying Amd atm.

Lol... 7900xtx 15fps...or 28 yes, not fun at all..

whit Nvidia we can play those games max settings and good frames.

I think nGreedia should just drop all AIB's and manufacture Founder Editions, they also did the R&D, made a great cooler and yet, they can sell at MSRP, at this point AIB's are just overpriced intermediaries, a damn overpriced nuisance to deal with.

I just ordered this, In India, this one cost 170,000INR (1960USD), the cheapest RTX 5080 I could find which is Asus Prime costs 157,000INR (1811.91USD)
Looking at the size of the card, the clocks and cooling capacity, It makes Astral a much better buy here. Also, 5080s have a lot of overclocking potential so big cooler makes sense

Except... nvidia doesn't build the card on their own, they need the AIBs to build cards for them. Plus, FE is low-volume, I don't think Nvidia wants to get in the supply and distribution game.

The Astral 5090 at 40% mark-up was pretty egregious, but this at 50% is just ridiculous.

At some point, even the Asus zealots will get annoyed and defect to a vendor offering the exact same thing for less.

I used to think people liked ASUS for the warranty, service, and quality - but all of the ASUS scandals hitting the news in the last couple of years have nailed that coffin shut.

They use some volume OEM for their cards (not sure if it's another AIB or not). I'm sure who ever it is, they would be happy to build more. The benefits of having other AIBs in the market is to flood the zone with various cards and reap the rewards of extra marketing $$s from the AIBs and some niche products NV wouldn't make.

My local Microcenter had 10s in stock only this flavor.

The volume OEM for FE cards is Foxconn, I think.

Asus used to be the best. They gave you the TUF GPU at MSRP, the only one that did that.

Now you get crap Prime, no Tuf for a reasonable price, and the Astral is crazy overpriced and has a loud fan....

terrible

wow, just 6% behind a 4090 with another 10% OC headroom, but at 1500usd :kookoo: .

then perhaps I can sell my Asus TUF 4090 for 1500usd .

Used items dont hold the same value regardles of performance parity, 4090s already fell to 1000usd where im at oj the used market
