ARG! this is is exactly what happend last time with my p5b dlx. Everything would come one, but it wouldn't post. The lcd poster indicates and says "DET DRAM" so i take out ram and it beeps, i don't know what to do again!

I checked all my cables because it worked fine before.

I pressed the clr cmos on the mobo in the back, took out the battery for about 2 min ect, did all the normall trouble shooting!! :banghead: :banghead:

i want a mac.

I lowered the cpu vcore from 1.75 to 1.5 and the ram from 974 to 1074 and it wouldn't post, i though no big deal i'll clear the cmos. Ive been lowering the cpu v core each time i reboot to see how low it can go and be stable for my 3.3ghz oc.

Anybody got any ideas?

Please tell me my board DIDN'T die

what bios are you using?

also, if you restore fact defaults will it post then?

have you tried everything on auto?

0907 i believe is the bios. I have tried resetting the bios with the button on the back and by removing the battery. i googled it and it appears this is a common issue and the board has to be rma'd but before i go to that extreme i want to try to fix this.

Assume you tried single RAM stick, then the other, in different slots? Also, you keep the vcore at 1.75 on air:eek:

whoops my bad. 1.5 to 1.4

most i have had it was 1.6 but it didn't matter 1.5 vcore is fine

and yeah, one stick in all slots.

Whew! Thought maybe the CPU is your problem from that voltage:laugh:

What vdimm did you use on the RAM? Maybe both fried (didn't your last set go bad also)?

auto vram.

i am starting to hate crucial, if i have to rma them again, i will sell them so fast. this would be the third time i would rma them.

Yeah, if its the memory again, your having no luck with Crucials - that or your board just doesn't like them at those settings. I see you said you cleared the CMOS for a couple of minutes. I know a couple of times on my board a few minutes wouldn't do it. Try clearing for at least an hour or two and see if it posts.

I get the same problem when the ram is not on Auto, This option mainly Write Recovery Time : AUTO if i remember right let me check..

I'm using 1004 now that mandelore posted a day or so ago which allows you to have more options let me check..

EDIT:

Row Refresh Cycle Time it was lol.. i had to change that to get mine to work. with BIOS 907 the options i needed were not there. Dunno if it work for and be carefull about updating your bios.

even if i get a new bios how would i flash it?

and atm the bat is out so im gonna leave it out for a while. the more i read about the det ram it sounds like a ram issue.

ASUS are one of the only mobo makers who keep updating their BIOS.
There is currently an issue with ASUS boards when using very high speed ram, either DDR2 or 3.

If you clock the ram (ddr2) to <1GHz, you need to set the Trfc timing to greater than 52. The highest option you can select for this timing is only 42.
If you set Trfc to AUTO then the board will increase this to <52 for you and you can clock higher.

With DDR3, it's the same but Trfc should be <130 for very high clocks.

ASUS boards do overvolt the memory by ~0.06v ---> this shouldn't be an issue unless you're using ~2.3v or more.
This voltage issue is well known, and IMO it's one of those things you must know before attampting to OC with an ASUS board.
If you're RAM dies from this issue, IMO it's your fault.
Before you start to OC anything, it's imperative you do the required research on your hardware first.
Not knowing your hardware before OC'in is only asking for problems.

Ok, tried taking the battery out for over 2 hours and no go. I'm going to try my dads ram and pray that works. I don't want to rma the board

try this, this normally gets my p5b dlx workin again

pull the power and battery, then pop out the CPU for about 2 minutes, put it back in, and boot it up with one stick in the first slot. That always brings my mobo back to life!

Do you get any beeps?
Most modern mobos will turn on without ram, just have literally the mobo and cpu, and turn it on. See if you get any beeps, if you do, it it is the mobo telling you all is okay but you got no ram, lol! So start trying different ram/slots
If you got no beeps setup like that, then either the mobo or cpu is faulty and there isnt really alot you can do.

Good luck!

I had similar problems with my mobo and found it was the bios flash tool!

well i stuck the ram from my dads pc into mine and it booted imediately.

I stuck my ram in his and nothing. did the same thing mine did, turned on but all fans ect lighted up. so its my ram, 6 sticks gone bad.

Shame about the ram, but at least you sorted your mobo out without rma'ing it. So all 6 sticks gone?? Were they over OC'd or smthn? can you rma them?

yeah, they were all oc to about 1000mhz 4-4-4-12 2.2v (stock v)

and they all died.

my maximus formula se wont post with my crucial lanfest ram at default bios settings. it doesnt give enough voltage. i had to buy a cheap stick of pc2-5300 that will post with the default 1.8volts.

once i get into bios, i crank up the ram volts to 2.1 then shut down. install the crucial ram and it it fires up fine. also my abit ip35-E does the same thing with my lanfest ram.

just an idea to try

well why would it do this in my computer and my dads?

Just bought a his 3870 and the transcend ram.

please don't fail me this time

you were posting that your ram didnt work in your dads pc as i was typing my reply.

if your ram is dead then i have no idea.

i do remember reading that the crucial brand mem does tend to die an early death in our maximus's. altho i've had no problem running my lanfest at 4-4-4-12 @552mhz with 2.27volts as read by pcprobe II.

its a very long thread to read through and i bet you have already read it. but i'll give you the link any way.
