Anyone who's ever dealt with ASUS, can I have the general idea of the info they ask for when you call them needing a mobo repair/RMA?

I just got my motherboard back from them, you have to fill the online RMA form out which asks you when you bought it, and the Serial number. I believe that was it, along with name, address, etc. They sent me an RMA number in the morning and i sent it in, 10 days later, i had a brand new motherboard. :D

No receipt needed? And do I need an exact date as to when I bought it?

When it was bought, where from, Your full contact details, serial number of the board, model number, Board revision, Bios revision, and information about the rest of your PC specs.

(just been dealing with them so I have it all in front of me)

Yet some thing else i love about newegg. They save all those receipts for you and apparently for ever too. :).

I'm buying this from a guy who got it off ZipZoomFly.

Would it be okay if I didn't have the exact date or the receipt? Or should I ask the seller for a print out of the receipt?

You need a receipt for have a warranty. Also you have to be the original buyer too. Unless your planning to send him his stuff back when \ IF it goes wrong so he can sort it out...

And chances are the receipt will have his name and address on it too so they will send it to that address.

Which means I'm not buying that board! ^_^ Or anything off Craigslist for that matter, aside from a case.

Thanks for the clarification/

They want the serial number and your contact information. In Europe Asus support for desktop is extremely slow, can take 4-5 months to get your board back. Workstation/server parts work far better, they can do that within a week.

So I don't need the receipt nor have to be the original purchaser of the board? I mean, I could've bought it at my local computer store that closed down or something right? I'm still wary of buying a mobo off Craigs if I'm losing out on the 3 year warranty.

Negative. They know when you bought it by serial number. I'm not sure if they're legally bound to give you warranty on a used item though as far as I know they've never cared.

Depending on your serial number string and the time you had bought the used from the other guy.

You can always say, a "friend" of yours ordered it and use the original Zipzoomfly invoice so that you retain the full three years.

In the future, once you are already in their system, if you need to RMA the board again, they can't say anything since you had gotten warranty previously.

just say it was a gift

i have never used a receipt just call the number read off the serial number and you are done have done it on 3 boards now

Same here. They've never asked me for a receipt, ever.
