well i got my new board today.installed win ok,just flashed to 0804 tho' and it failed to post when i rebooted.luckily i just reset the bios and it is fine.

it didnt seem to want to run at the 4.2ghz it would on the p5wd2 tho',or at 4ghz.i will have to look into it later.

i like the fact the mem voltage on this goes to 2.45v,it only went to 2.3 on the other board.i have got the mem at 1.8 now,i'm so glad it would boot at 1.8 as its rated for 2.3 at 450/900.

any tips from anyone with the same board would be appriciated:D .

i should have my e6300 next week tho' so i cant wait.

I know that with the P4P800 series the wi-fi edition was identical, just came with a extra wi-fi card. In fact I stole my brothers wi-fi card and culd put it in my P4P800.

I suppose the same goes for the P5B.

Get it without wi-fi. I think its better to have a separate PCI card that you can swap out, and put BIGGER ANTENNA on. The internal miniPCI devices are good, but not as capable or flexible as a PCI device.

If your MB goes down (or when you replace it)... your PCI wi-fi can move with you (or maybe you'd better look for a PCIe version! LOL).

I can also recommend an external device. A wireless to ethernet connection is better than wireless-USB, but USB is ok also. Look at WG302 or WAG302 or something similar.

good point

i was gonna ask...wat does the ASUS wifi slot actually do? Like what 'better' does it have over PCI wireless?

i find it as a disadvantage, as its more expensive, u can only get crappy ones like the 802.11b, and as lemon said, u cant move it if u upgrade to a non-asus board :p

oh AND it takes up the 5th PCI slot anyway...so wat is the bloody point :p?

the wi-fi card does'nt actually go into a pci slot,it connects onto the headers for usb 9/10 which are close to the rear panel connections, just above the blue pci-e slot.if you have no wi-fi card, you can use them for usb 9/10.tho' i think their not much good to use as they're so close to the rear and the cable would drape everywere:eek: .

it seems ok to me tho'.i will post on monday with some oc and bench results.if possible i am aiming for a 450fsb with my ram at 1:1.
