I'm in the market to upgrade and have been looking at boards. I found a sweet deal on a Rampage III and did some research. I am pretty impressed with it but I have a couple questions for anyone who have used this board:

Does it required both 8pin cpu connectors to run?

What are the average temps it runs at, does it run hot?

How many revisions have been made by Asus? I heard there was a new version that featured the Chilchip.

Any weird issues besides the limited usb ports and sata6 cons I should know about?

thank you :)

I have a rampage III formula, great board, gotta love the 16x 16x on pci slots 1 and 3, gives some nice space in between my cf cards.

No it doesn't require both 8pin connectors to run. Only there for those that like to really push the board:)
Not sure about average temps as mine has been water cooled since day one...
I have absolutely loved this board and it's stability when over clocking. I have not had one issue with it:toast:

Thanks for the input! I have always been a big fan of Asus boards, but sometimes I think most of there boards are a tad over-priced. I found one used (only 4 months old) for $250 which seems like a good deal to me. I would really like to find out how hot this chipset runs though? because my current board (which is aging fast lol) runs really hot for compared to newer boards these days and I hate it!

@HammerOn

what chipset temps do you get under water?

This is under full load on the CPU as it is a cruncher:

Looks like Northbridge @ 40C and Southbridge @ 33C. This is with a Koolance water block on the REIII.
