looks like the sponge toffee edition lolYes
LOL, even as a one-off publicity stunt, that looks like total ass - possibly the most questionable and tasteless use of $500K of gold I've seen!
If it hadn't been authenticated as gold, I'd assume someone had 3D-printed a plastic shroud and hastily sprayed it in an uneven single coat of "gold" paint from a rattle can....

In all fairness to ASUS, have any of you every tried to license things like this? This kind of thing ain't cheap. Then there's the custom manufacturing side of it. While I don't know if DOUBLE the price is an actual factor, there is not a snowballs chance in hell that this kind of thing would EVER be cheap..No offense to people who are fans of Miku but... damn Asus is greedy.
WTF does that even mean?A small price to pay for salvation.

Come on Lex, licensing and making plastic shroud in different color doesn't even come close to $1000+ that ASUS is asking for it.Target audience..

Hey all!
This is my first thematic build!
This build based on the Asus x Miku collab is just 1 of a handful of collabs Asus has done with various IPs not including there own mascot.
Gundam: https://www.asus.com/microsite/ASUS-X-GUNDAM/my/
Evangelion: https://rog.asus.com/microsite/ROGxEVANGELION/
COD: https://rog.asus.com/articles/gamin...ition-call-of-duty-branded-hardware-from-rog/
Demon Slayer: https://www.asus.com/us/site/Demon-Slayer/
etc etc you get the idea.
Personally; I don't really...

Naah this is pure inflation mate. Its marketing all the way; brand exposure for all parties involved. It is literally raining 'This x That' versions and series of everything; just throw two popular things in a blender, mark up and sell.In all fairness to ASUS, have any of you every tried to license things like this? This kind of thing ain't cheap. Then there's the custom manufacturing side of it. While I would agree about the $1000+ statement, make no mistake, licensing fees and custom artwork on shrouds are NOT cheap.Naah this is pure inflation mate.

There are entire factory lines in Shenzhen and numerous other locations dedicated to this shit. They make to order. What do you think fuels all those kickstarter projects? Cheap production, send your CAD file and go. Its an industry all on its own, fueled entirely by hype after hype. While I would agree about the $1000+ statement, make no mistake, licensing fees and custom artwork on shrouds are NOT cheap.
Part of that is true...This is why China rules the production world atm. Doing such a thing in a Western country indeed commands a massive fee, but that aint happening here.

A large chunk of that upcharge goes to Sega, who created the Hatsune Miku character & still owns the IP rights. There are entire factory lines in Shenzhen and numerous other locations dedicated to this shit.
