Temperature gap of 20C between gpu die and hot spot isn't unusual. Hot spot also has a much higher thermal range than the die does - like 110C or more.

IF the vbios update has a higher power target than the previous one, then yes - more power = more heat = stronger cooling/fans running faster to hit the same temperature.
Maybe a little dust is involved too.

Your temps are perfectly fine.

Most reviews install cards in an optimal environment (open test bench with airflow in a cold room), you can't expect to have the exact same temps in your setup.

Then just leave it running at stock speeds... I mean you already have world's fastest consumer GPU....

I was going to ask what case, case fans, and CPU cooler you're using, but after reading through the posts and seeing you say your temps were initially fine before messing with things, including the VBIOS, I think the problem then becomes obvious.

There wasn't really a problem, OP just noticed higher temps with the GPU overclocked I understand, which is normal imo...

All I have to say is, if you OC to best stable results you can manage, you have to expect higher temps, especially the hotspot temp. That was something I didn't see since I skimmed through the posts, my bad. I used to be able to skim as fast as any pool cleaning boy without missing a beat, but age happened and my eyes got old. LOL

today i run msi afterburner oc scan and durning the test my gpu temp was at 77c and hot spot 100c and gpu power 640w with 100% fan can this temp risky for the card?

It's looking like a mountain out of a molehill...

When you start seeing 85C+ on the gpu core and 95C+ on memory junction, regardless of the card's load, then you can panik.

I'm experiencing a similar issue with my TUF 4090. About 4-5 weeks ago when I bought the card, I was seeing a max GPU hotspot of 78c on FurMark Donut. I was able to reproduce this max temp consistently for that first week or so. Now (after 4 weeks or so), after various motherboard bios (dark hero bios version 4201 to 4304), win11, and driver updates my max hotspot has risen to 86c on FurMark Donut. I don't believe the issue is with the firmware or software changes unless we see similar rises of GPU temps over time with other 4090s. I believe this may be a thermal paste issue where it is losing a bit of its effectiveness over a month's time.

Are others witnessing this issue with their 4090s with the latest driver and win11 updates?

Your temps are okay; why not just turn the fans up a bit? I have the same card. The fan noise is really not bad at all with the larger fans. My 3080 ti was far louder with fans at 50%.

Here are some basic temps running an hour or more of CP2007 at 3840x1600 with a semi-hot overclock (for this card, anyway). I had the fans at 65% for this "test" but keep them at 50% all the time if gaming and 0% if not.

...

That said, I believe I'll be doing a repaste/repad soon.

I have a 1000g tub of T-Global TG-PP10 putty that I need to use and will be replacing all of the thermal pads with the putty. It's worked wonders for an Area51-M R2 laptop so I'm curious to see if it makes any difference on the Strix card. I'll be keeping the stock Asus pads of course and I'd recommend you do the same if you decide to ever replace them (warranty/RMA, etc.).

Best of luck...
