Hey everyone, recently i bought new pc and the motherboard that i choose is Asus TUF x470-plus gaming and i wanted to update the bios to the latest version because the version that's on is the old bios from 2 years ago. When i tried to update the bios to the latest version directly from the bios menu with the Ez Flash 3 tool i choose the USB, chose the bios file and it asked me if i want to read the file i clicked yes when i did that the mouse was frozen for couple seconds and after that i got the message that "Selected file is not a proper BIOS". I tried with two different usb drives and both were formatted to FAT32, i also tried to download the bios directly from the asus servers. After you choose the Ez Flash it asked me if i want from local drive or internet and the third time (after the two usb attempts failed) i choose internet and i got the same error message "Selected file is not a proper BIOS". I also tried to rename the bios file with the provided renaming tool and still the same result.
Does someone has any idea how this can be fixed?

What processor do you have installed?

Maybe this will help from a reddit post:

Well, it turns out it actually were me who did a fuck up.
For anyone wondering, I might have forgotten to read the changelog completely through, but when I finally did i say the following:
"Remove AMD 7th Gen A-series/ Athlon X4 Processors support"
And that was exactly what I was trying to update with. I had a 7th gen A-series CPU installed, which caused the error to occur, so if anyone should end up here, remember to read the changelog. It might save you a day or two in troubleshooting.

Hmmm, looks like you are going from the original 0215 bios... you might to try going with a couple of steps at a time or let ez flash 3 try doing it's online updating.
Or, give the Asus techs a call/email and see if they have advice or tips.
Gotta be careful, as, it might go bad.... if it was me.... I would ask Asus.

Did you unzip the ZIP file and extract the .CAP BIOS update file or are you trying to select the ZIP file as the BIOS file?

Did you do this step?
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (M12H.CAP) using BIOSRenamer.

If your Bios is Version 0215 try to Update to 4008 instead 5837 and if it works that means that you need first to update the old Bios till you get to the latest one.

Happened to me once;)
