ATI has just released brand new Linux display drivers (version 8.41.7) designed to support Red Hat Enterprise Linux suite and Novell/SuSE product suite. This release of the Catalyst Linux driver introduces significant OpenGL performance improvements for a variety of ATI Radeon graphics accelerators for OpenGL consumer based games such as Doom 3 and Quake 4. This release of Catalyst also supports all ATI Radeon HD 2000 video cards.

That is great news!! I hope they are stable. If so, I may have to try linux out again. :)

I saw an early review of these drivers, supposed to increase performance by ~100% more or less on some cards.

Check this review out-
R300/R400
R500
R600

Unfortunately this is only "recommended" for the HD 2000 series... us "legacy" folk will have to wait for the October driver. Bright sides is October driver with finally support AIGLX for compositing. (i.e. Compiz-Fusion)

This is just a huge announcement in general. ATI supports Linux. WTG:toast:

I'll have to load this on to Ubuntu immediately. :)
