I've got a Sapphire 1Gb HD 2900 Pro flashed to XT. I cannot get ATITool to work, it opens but is non-reponsive, which is common from what I've read here.

I have a waterblock ready to go for my GPU. I want to measure the temps under load before and after. I can use CCC, but can't see it while I'm loading the GPU, so I only get a glimpse of the temps after exiting the app. Around 72c for a few games, then drops to 60c after about 15 seconds. The card runs flawlessly at XT speeds.

...So how can I fully load the GPU and watch the temps at the same time??? Is there anything else out there like ATITool?

go to device manager, disable the atitool driver, launch atitool.

it will say bla blah cant find driver. ignore that, 3d view will still work to heat up the card

SPEEDFAN works for me.....but I am using a 8800gts

Thanks - I will be trying this evening. (bla blah, lol). Cheers.

I'll also look at Speedfan.

Ranged between 64c and 70c with the 3D window open (yea!) - the fan kicked in and did it's work. Fan on = 6c temp drop. The fan isn't loud.

When I get the GPU block on, I plan to report back.

Well, I got my koolance GPU-180 on it and it's doing the job. And oh shit was the stock TIM application SLOPPY!

Idling at 38c. Then on load for two hours, stabilized at 54c.

I ran the "Automated clock utility" in CCC and still getting runaway temps at about 790 core (temp jumps suddenly to 127c). CCC puts the most stress I've seen yet - the system jumps to a 400w power draw, where the previous highest I've seen was 365w while running 3DMark or in-game. That's measured at the plug with "Kill-A-Watt".

I have it running at 810 core, playing bioshock for hours with no problems. It's sweet.

Sasqui when you turn your volts on the GPU to max does your machine shut down?

I tried that last night and that's what happened to me. I can run the card at 858 thru CCC soo I don't no if it's ati tool or my system.

Damulta - how are you controlling the GPU voltages? I still can't run ATITool, though I haven't updated for a few weeks. Has it been updated for the HD 2900 XT, or are you using something else?

With the runaway temps in CCC near 800 core, I'm hesitant to raise the voltage as it may make the problem worse... maybe I need to bump the core voltage down and see where that gets me.

With ATi Tool 2B I can open it up with one card.

With 2 cards I can open it up 1 time right when it boots up.......

Cool, I'll try that this weekend - thx.
