Auto control of custom cooling on graphics card

Ok. so what i want to do is put 2 x 120mm fans on my graphics card. I did it in the past and it does wonders for cooling. But in the past i put fans that had only molex connectors so they were constantly running at full speed. Cooling was great, but so was noise. I would like to buy 2 x 120mm fans with PWM. So the fan speed can alternate.
Now what I'm wondering is, is there any kind of software that can read GPU temperatures and control the speed of these 2 fans based on that temperature? I know that there are warious programs and potenciometre that can control fan speed, but i want to control their speed specifically based on GPU temperature.

Software crashes though, your GPU already controls fans why not wire them into that?.
 
Was thinking about that. Simply plugging the new fans to fan conectors on graphics card PCB. But will the PCB be able to prowide enough power for bigger 120mm fans?
The stock 2080 fans are around 7w each from what I could see so I think it'll be fine.
 
Unfortunately when i was cleaning the fans on my graphics card i peeled off the stickers that said power info. But i think they are 6V fans. 120mm case fans are 12V
And off topic, can someone tell me what these stars beneath usernames mean?

I've never seen a 6V rated fan on a gpu, they're all 12V.

Edit: actually you should check to see that your card has 4-pin fan headers in the first place. IIRC The ref 2080Ti uses a 14pin? header instead.

there are plenty of high end 120mm fans that use 3 watts or less. i doubt that header will have an issue with 0.5 amps. if it gets any air flow, i wouldn't be freaked out with a peak, not continuous, closer to 1 amp.
 
OK. SO i did some googling and seems that connecting your case fans to graphics card PCB can quickly burn out that part of PCB. So i found and downloaded this program and testing it currently. Can read GPU sensor and control any case fan speed based on that. You can even set a custom fan curve just like in MSI afterburner.

And it seems to work great so far. Now just to find some good 120mm fans with high air flow that don't cost too much.

sorry but my gut reaction is, did they use some 25 watt delta finger choppers? (FUD!)

you've seen the 12v on what you fans have, look for the amps - it will be there and match appropriately. :cool:

It's the same. 12V, 0,40A.
But no point on spending extra money now on these adapters if i can software control fans based on GPU tems and keep them connected to MBO.

i did the same fan/MB set up w/speed fan but i just prefer "hardware based" solutions and hate auto starting software while booting. it just annoys me.

So i did buy 2 x 120mm LC Power LC-CF-120 fans. I am surprised with how quiet and good these cheap fans are. GPU temps went from around 65 celsius stock to 55 celsius when overcloked. And you can barely hear these fans. Unlike stock cooler that would get very loud.
Thinking about putting 2 of these on my CPU cooler as well.
