Guys i've opened a discussion here about a power consumption problem. It's been partially answered, but i also have some networking and bandwidth questions, related to my net speed and how many players can a future server with that net speed support. So,if you're kind to take a look and give some feedback, would be much appreciated.
You can even answer here if you like, doesn't bother me. I just wanna be forum-friendly as much as possible, so i don't spam my questions everywhere.
P.S. i need to sustain a total of 100 players at one time, and also if you could at my hardware specs to see in you're expert opinion if it's capable of doing that. The game is an mmorpg... so just to give people an idea of what exactly i am dealing with. Thx! You're paciente and time is appreciated :)

your computer is not going to host a server of 100 people with 4gb of ram, also you are going to need some major bandwidth for that as in 50 Mbs up.
What game is it that you are trying to host anyway ?

Most server hosts nowadays give you a 1000 mbit uplink for free, incoming traffic free too, only outgoing is counted, 10-20 TB should be fine, unless your game pushes a lot of traffic.

Game name ?

Intel® Core™ i7-4770
Quadcore Haswell
incl. Hyper-Threading Technology

  • RAM32 GB DDR3 RAM
  • Hard Drive2 x 2 TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 rpm
    HDD (Software-RAID 1)
    Class Enterprise
  • Connection1 Gbit/s-Port
  • Guaranteed Bandwidth200 Mbit/s
  • Backup Space100 GB
  • Inclusive Traffic20 TB*
For 49 Euro / m

any way .. i used them nice service for that price

much more better then host game on your pc...

and mmorpg server almost all diff some use more ram some less / some use more cpu some less

most immo for server is uploading speed

if your download speed is 50mb/s and upload 10mb/s ... so your real speed is 10mb/s and it's enough for about 150~people ... without lags

any way some servers takes also more of internet and some less ... heh

What hosting company are you referring to? That is a good price.
My game is Silkroad Online. 150 players would be nice for a start.Because i don't have money to pay 50 euro every month.I need players that will play on a daily bases to support the server. At the moment i am building...starting to build the website.
I had 3 main options: web.com, iPage and Godaddy. I am going to do the website with iPage.
Do you think it's a good choice?

For 100 people, you will need one hell of a connection. I would just look into a hosting company for the game

I Had server of Silkroad ... with 10~mb upload 100~150 people will be fine .. if you not gonna make patches or something but 4GB of memory not enough ... you can turn on 2~4 Maps with 100~150 online maybe even less and your pc will lag =( like - Jangan , Hotan , DW ... silkroad files hungry for memory per every map =)

Website ? on your pc , something simple will be enough - Registration / Downloads.

On private PC i had Mu Online - with 1.5MB download and 750~1.5mb upload .. i had 80~People without lags

some years ego ...
