Bandwidth Question

So, I'll be hosting a few Teamspeak 3 server's. A big one with roughly 200 people connected at one time. My current connection is 50mb Down / 10mb up.

Now if my math hold's true, I should be able to handle this well enough. As well as sport a couple other file server's.


Or am I completely wrong?

I figure at roughly 20KB per user * 200 users leaves me with about 4Mb's of upload usage and some DL usage or am I wrong..

Do the users each use 20 Kilobytes/s or 20 kilobits/s? Note that internet services use bits (1/8 byte) to make their numbers look bigger, so 50Mb/8 should give you 6.25 Megabytes/s of download bandwidth, and 1.25 Megabytes of upload speed.

I think he is on Fiber, which means that really do mean bytes and not bits.

Im on Fiber to Coaxial. And its KB. And your right, forgot they use Mb.. stupid internet. Probably wont' be able to hold it but only one way to find out I guess.

I have Verizon FiOS fiber and they advertise in bits. I have a 25/15 package, which nets me 3.125 Megabytes/S download speed.

Comcast is the same way. 50Mb / 10Mb which grants me about a 6mb DL and a 1mb up. You were right on that.
