Wait, I didnt think of whether you had an Nvdia card or ATI.

Right click your desktop, and go to properties, thne go to the settings tab of the windows that comes up.
Then tell me what it says as shown in this picture-

Will BF2 run on a Nvidia GF4 4200Ti with these drivers?

I was under the impression that the entire GF4 series was unsupported, and that id have to shell out on a new card if i wanted a go (anoying, Doom3 and Halflife 2 worked fine).

I installed the lates drivers when I reinstaled the game and it still does not work. When I click on icon it turns screen black like it is going to load and then jumps back to desktop?

hey ive been having this problem where when i try and play bf2 demo it goes all black then comes back to my desktop...ive been reading what u said to do and under my display thing it says "plug and play moniter on intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller"....it doesnt say anything about an NVIDIA or ATI so what do i do?

ok i updated my video card but not my sound card yet and it still does that black screen thing...do i have to get a new computer er what?

You're trying to play BF2 with the video card that comes integrated with your motherboard... impossible.
Check if your motherboard has an AGP slot, it's one of the things you use to connect cards to your PC, this one should be brown, if your PC has one of those, then you need to buy a new video card (be prepared with at least $150 bucks).
If your PC doesn't have an AGP slot, then my friend, you should think about getting a new PC, or, if you're on a tight budget, save your pennies for an Xbox360 and a copy of a console version of BF2. Good luck.

anyone had experience of frequent lockups during BF2, often resulting in a reboot?

I've updated all the drivers, increased my swap file and defragged all my HDDs, ingame performance is slightly improved for the precious few minutes it works. I did have a huge heat build up, but I cured it using an ATI Silencer 5 rev2.

specs for my rig are in my sig.

HELP, since the game has gone gold I expect I'm gonna see this problem in the full game when it arrives

yes i tried that pixel shader thingy and i think that i will need a new computer but idk...i have all of the other battlefield games and they work fine and i dont see why the new one goes to a black screen then back to my desktop

I just spent 2 hours re-downloading BF2 and it still has the loading problem with the black screen going to desktop! What know?
