The upcoming "Battlefield 6" would mark a "soft-reboot" of the franchise in a modern-era setting; much like "Battlefield 3" was, according to Tom Henderson, a reliable source with leaks related to the franchise. He predicts that the game could even be titled simply "Battlefield" (not to be confused with "Battlefield 1"). The game (if it includes a campaign), could have a modern mechanized warfare setting, and be a marked departure from the historic (or pseudo-historic) plots of "Battlefield 1" and "Battlefield V."

Much like how Activision is handling various game modes with its latest releases of "Call of Duty," the next Battlefield could include a dedicated Battle Royale mode that's more evolved than simply being a gameplay mode within its Multiplayer. The main Multiplayer could build on the modes Battlefield perfected, including large PvP conquests with up to 128 players on the PC platform (fewer players on consoles).

(fewer players on consoles) yes I am sure a 3,5ghz Ryzen 7 3700x can't handle it

I Lost faith in BF since BF1 (the world war I) and BF5 was One of the worst I played.

Plus nowadays it seems battle royale is the most important part of any multiplayer Shooter wich is bad imo as I dont like that genre a single bit, yet I expect them to work on that more than the old school conquest/rush modes.

If it was 7 years ago I would blindly pre-order, this is One of my fav franchises. But after all the recent mess,Will wait longer after it releases

I stopped playing Battlefield after Bad Company. Best Battlefield game I played was Vietnam.

The series has gone to putz.

Battlefield 2020: you just cough at each other and wait, while your score slowly gets worse

Ah yes, the great fabled battle Royale mode....the game mode that saved BF5. /sarcasm

Never played Battlefield before. Any franchise actually. Been thinking to get the BF5 just to take a look and see what's it like but maybe I just simply skip it.

"Soft reboot" ? More like "Re-relaunching" Battlefield V .
Battlefield 1 though not perfect, but it was fun to play with, 2000 hours of my life spent on that game. Engaging cinematic multiplayer mode, elite classes, behemoth and fairly balanced TTK. At first glance I thought Battlefield V could refine anything Battlefield 1 lacks, but as that hideous trailer shows and nearly 6 months starving for content, I come to realize EA really is Bad Company.

How many soft reboots are needed for this franchise? BF3 was a soft reboot, then it was BF1, now again? Can't the franchise change it's timeperiod without it being classified as a reboot?

Stopped playing after BF4, due to gunplay being crap on PC, numerous server issues etc. Though customization is definitely the best out of the whole franchise. But generally felt like a downgrade from BF3. Same with CoD, heard early rumors about another annual CoD set in WW3 with BO2 technologies, but eh, who cares and it gives us a reason to avoid millions of braindeads that put CoD every single year on top places in the charts. My last one was Ghosts back in 2013.

they should do a reboot of the old BF2 and 2142, those with some texture upgrade and RT should be sweet

2142 is such an awesome game. It's so much fun. Such a shame they never even bother to look at it again.

BF just became a grind. Spawn die, spawn die. Needs more fun, less depression.

Battlefield 2 bad company and battlefield 3 were the real deals :).

so with 128Player , I guess You need at least 8 cores or more?

I wish they recreated the unbelievable audio of Bad Company 2. It was so unique, so dynamic, so immersive. All the following games sounded so much worse.

God i hate battle royale...
I hope the game's good as bf4 to dump 2-3k hours with the boys.
I miss dropping fat 100-2's with attack helis and tanks.

Been waiting for BF to return to the modern time period. BF1 didn't compare to the amazing games that were BFBC2, BF3, and BF4. BFV was basically just a WW2 reskin of BF1. I couldn't care less about a battle royale mode. I tried Firestorm a few times and was not a fan. I'd love to see cross platform so I could play with my non-PC gamer buddy.

grrrrr... A reskin of BF1 you write... To HELL it is. Rewarding the losing team with easy kills by giving it a behemoth? The inclusion of an elite class? The ultra thick fog and the high frequency of it? Being blinded by light while peering out of a window or door? The backward ticket count? Holding down the trigger to reduce the bullet spread on MGs? Replacing the player's ability to CHOOSE a skin with random battlepack unlocks? Being bombed from miles away by the Ilya Muromets? The bug where your soldier goes prone when trying to vault? The frequent use of gas nades and morters. The sweetspot mechanic introduced for snipers?

Yeah, *I* noticed many differences. BF1 is shite. But it did have more content which is why I am not opposed to Premium being reintroduced.

Actually I thought BF1 was one of the better ones they've made. Bf5 has gotten better, much better than at launch, but it still is a far cry from the others. I only play it with my buddy now because most people play the more recent ones.

I completely agree with the battle royale, can't stand this type of gameplay. I've tried everything since H1Z1, and none of it has appealed to me. Especially PUBG, that game is just pure overrated garbage.

I would argue the rot started all the back in BC with the reduction of classes from 8 to 4. It was still okay mostly thru to BF3 because certain classes were still forced to provide a piece of utility (Assault's are medic, Support carry ammo, etc). In BF4, all that ended, and whilst still a decent game, definitely saw the teamwork aspect of BF regressing until we got to BFV with it fully regressed.

To be fair, I barely played BFV. I played a decent amount of BF1 on my PS4, and then picked up BFV on my PC when I got that battlefield itch I wanted to scratch. Quickly got bored of it though. Neither of them were great games IMO, but again, I have little time on BFV to support that statement (and it sounds like it's gotten better since). Maybe I'm just biased as I liked BFBC2/BF3/BF4 so much.

What does soft reboot mean?

Buy Battlefield 4 with Premium instead, there are still plenty of active players and servers to choose from.
