Hi Guys,
I just bought Bad Company 2 and like a lot of other people are having problems with the multiplayer part of the game (only on servers on wich punkbuster must be active). After about 10-15 minutes of play the game freezes and a manual system restart is needed. It looks a lot like this. The game freezes and the sound loops for about 4 seconds, then stops. Since this is a well documented problem I figured I should be able to fix it myself, but no such luck.
Thinks I have already tried:
- I removed all my overclocks one at a time to make sure the crash wasn't related to instability.
- I took all the steps documented in this guide wich basically somes up all the solutions that can be found on different forums and youtube.
So I played the game for about 12-15 times and every time it freezes within 15 minutes of play. I am 99% sure that it is punkbuster conflicting with something else, since it won't freeze in singleplayer or in multiplayer matches in wich punkbuster is not active(about 2% of the servers allow this and are populated with player who like to cheat ). Most of the sources on the internet claim that the freezes are caused by a conflict between punkbuster and realtek onboard audio. I disabled the onboard audio and the freezes where still there. I am using a separate soundcard (Creative Audigy SE) after disabling that in the device manager, the freezes where still there. So it seems unlikely that I am having the exact same problem as most people are having although they look the same.
I installed the game on my laptop (GX740) and was able to play with punkbuster for more then half an hour without any freezing problems. The problem is is that there are so many differences between my laptop and my desktop that I would't know where to start.
I hope you guys can help me out, because I am beginning to loose hair over this .
