I think it looks great style wise. The 2x120mm design is a huge improvement from the 1x80mm designs of the past.

The non standard motherboard and PSU might be valid arguments for the DIY community but for 99%+ of consumers looking for a prebuilt like this one it's irrelevant. They're not going to upgrade parts or even look inside the chassis.

I miss this era of XPS systems:

They weren't much better on the inside, but at least they were instantly recognizable and imposing.

Sorry folks, but I have to take up the cudgels for DELL:

a mid-range PC (not hardcore gamer) which is located in a price range of 850€ - 1750€ in total.... and the graphics unit alone is already at about 800€ time value has your comments far from deserved.
If you would consider the price range of the individual components, your verdict would have to be at least a bit milder. price performance is the priority here.
And as long as WINDOWS itself has a function (since WIN7) to "save" the operating system with a DVD, a DVD drive still has a right to exist!

The aluminum style can be discussed again separately......!

No just $600+, mb and PSU and case are custom so upgrades for the most part are very limited, and if i remember right even the CPU cooler.

Total ewaste, i understand that not everyone who wants to upgrade with even be bothered how ever if that PSU fails or even the motherboard the lot just junk unless it's in warranty.

ATX 12V0 would at least make standard PSUs viable. Motherboards though are going to need a new form factor thats modernized for OEMs to get behind if they there is any chance of them dropping their own proprietary designs. "Right to Repair" is starting to gain traction and there some push back in the "upgrade your shit to the lastest and greatest whether you need to or not" in terms of public sentiment so who knows, maybe?

Not true, RAM is standard, CPU is standard, cooler more than likely is standard, GPU, storage and even wifi are standard. The psu is not atx or "standard" per say but is some kind of standard and would be easy enough to replace.

The only thing really is the motherboard and case (because of the motherboard) but you could also source a new board from Dell. And this is an office prebuilt after all, there's a limited amount of adaptation a thing like this will ever see and will be repairable as long as the platform lives (dell might have a shitty customer service that pushes the extended warranty and financing multiple times, but they do provide repairs to their customers when asked/payed for)

Disagree. EVERY PSU IS "shitty"

This is a PSU:

Not exactly sure who is buying these but its a higher-end machine with a lot of CPU and GPU so I'd imagine engineering and design companies. A lot of those are smaller and those types of customers do like to upgrade their hardware and do self repairs when possible so a standard motherboard would be nice. And yeah you can maybe get a replacement board, maybe but I doubt the price would make sense.

Hey... That case has a front mounted USB-C port, so it can't possibly be that old.
You mean the front I/O that's not actually part of the case but an extension of the motherboard?

I understand your point though.

They look like a 2008 Acer remake , I actually thought it a take the piss piece reading the first paragraph, it was my opinion but 180° the opposite, I thought ultimate sarcasm!.

For example"XPS(? Yes , ,dell) is one of the most mocked brands in the PC industry, laughed at for its seamless convergence of worksite design and f#@ked for no good reason technology - but there's always more to an XPS device than meets the eye, no not really. "

I use a dell for work, does it show?!

What are you talking about? Most major components are bog-standard, motherboard is the only unique one and PSU is not the standard we know so could also pose some pain, everything else is replaceable.

This would be around a 6 on the ifixit scale, it's nowhere near perfect, but perfectly serviceable, let's dial down the bullshit hyperbole

That case was sick! I've seen some modded version (even found one here https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/bignano.189975/), kind of reminiscent of the current Mac Pro air tunnel

For a Dell, its light years ahead of anything I've seen from them in forever. Ill take that over the standard xps crud anyday.
