Beer before bread ,cheers and You are welcomed.

As Liu notes in the paper, the earliest bread remains to date were recently recovered from the Natufian site in east Jordan. Those could be from 11,600 to 14,600 years old. The beer finding she reports here could be from 11,700 to 13,700 years old.
?

I think you may misunderstand what confidence intervals are/how they’re derived... They are, at best, an estimation, and are not reproducible between experiments.

What is “centerline?” I have never heard this term before in relation to confidence intervals. Maybe I don’t understand lol

PS: if it had been,
11,700 to 14,600 years

All would be well, but maybe they are a group of senile fabricators who cannot correctly count backwards without jumping hoops.

If there is a date, it has to be inside the confidence interval. As you can see, the intervals are not discrete from one another. You cannot have (+100,-1000) intervals to have statistical significance. It can be (-100,-1000), or (+100,+1000). The results can be interpreted both ways.

All the headline is saying is that it's better evidence for the "beer first" hypothesis than we had before, which was no possibility because zero possible samples.

The users here are inferring way more, but that is on them, not on the article itself.

tldr: beer was available earlier than we thought, possibly but not certainly earlier than bread. That is all. How on earth is that claim "FUD?" I'm certainly not thinking anyone is sowing Fear, Uncertainity and Doubt about beer here

Oh yeah :) Man ain't a cactus gotta drink.
Water is for animals beer is for men.
Cheers. :)

Can tell your country has no cacti if you think they don't need water haha

I wish I was around to witness the first dude who drank beer. I can only imagine the massive smile on this face after the first sip :toast:
it probably tasted like shit, sent him tripping balls in the mountains where he saw god and got him stoned to death for being cursed

Then someone else went and tried it and liked it

It's an expression bro :) You don't water cactus frequently like any other plant. Where I'm from, cactus is the most common one you can see :)

I would have thought it was because he puked on someone's animal hide shoes and ruined them.
Also may have been they coudn't understand what he was grunting, so they thought he was from a foreign cave and stoned him.
