I am seeking a new Motherboard and Processor for several of my PCs. I would like to go with the Quad Core Pentium due to some of the applications that I am currently running (do not use them for gaming). The delema that I am having is I need a Motherboard that supports the following... PCI-e for Video, On-board Dolby 7.1 sound, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, 4 SATA drive (or more) and 2 or 4 PATA drives, Floppy controller, and about 3x Standard PCI slots for other expansion cards that are currently in use and about 12 or more Gb of RAM. I wouldn't mind over clocking if at all possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any information that you can provide me with is greatly appreciated.

If you want over 2 PATA your screwed without a seperate controller card.

What in the world would you need 12gb or more ram with 7.1 sound for? And then all the pci slots, this build makes no sense...

I utilize video editing controllers that require the older PCI slots. The more RAM that the system has the faster it can render the graphics. As for all the PATA and SATA ports I am currently running about 20TB between all my systems and would like to be able to use my existing drives and expansion cards that control them. Out of my 7 systems, there is only 1 that will not be changed and that system has incorporated into it 6 DL-DVD burners that all run together. As you can probably tell I do alot of graphics and video production along with Autocad design on a few of the systems.

The only problem with going to an i7 processor is none of the MBs support the number of PCI slots that I need.

 .. for triple the price ... and only 2 pci slots

Thanks, I will look further into both of these motherboards.... I was looking at eiter a 1Gb video or more if the money is there to allow it... The one that I was considering is the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150340 (
XFX PVT96OZDFU GeForce 9600 GSO 1GB Video card). From what I can tell it seems to be a good card and the price is right. Any other suggestions??? That is the only problem with these new boards though, nothing is interchangable anymore and nobody is producing expansion boards to accept the PCI-express interface other than pretty much video manufactures. I just may have to keep one of my other systems just to be able to run all of my PATA drives and SCSI drives along with my USB 2.0 expansion cards.

take like main see it in my system specs
