Best Modding Case?

Ok so i want to get into case modding and stuff. So what would be the best case for that?
right now i have the NZXT Trinity
Also, what kind of things do i do to mod a case, and where can i get the stuff. i live in canada.

A basic non painted or coated BTX chassis, that's entirely spartan inside(meaning it doesn't come with formed or bolted-in drive bay(s)).

Cases are often crowded and you end up doing too much cutting to take pieces away, rather than building and adding unique pieces which would properly make it 'custom.'

any case is moddable really. top tools needed... dremel, jigsaw, screwdrivers, pliers, sandpaper, paint, primer, zip ties, electrical tape, a ton of time. lol

Just get a case thats fits your general idea of the finnished mod. Make sure it will accomadate your cooling plans (fans or water). The more basic the case the better. The bigger cases are usually better, the more room to get your hands in and to be able to hide wires is great. A removable motherboard tray can be realy handy.

If you have the money to mod one i always thought Lan-li's were awesome base cases, extremely simple and well built... Unfortunatly their price is a bit high to want to hack one up.

x2 The other nice thing about Lian Li cases is that you can buy replacement parts for virtually every part of the case. So if you mess up you can replace that part, also if you're a lazy modder you can often buy pre-modded pieces and parts of Lian Li cases. Another good modding case is the old Chieftec Dragon cases:

I use this case as well. 1 problem is that space from edge of mobo to drive bays here's a example.

Whats been changed.
2 extra 120mm fan holes one top one at the bottom
all fan grills removed
Side added 120mm hole
soon to add 120mm mounting holes over psu to help it cool.

Total fans 6
120mm bottom
120mm top
2x80mm front
120mm rear
side 120mm

Case was only $50 over 2 year ago on newegg.

awe man i miss those chieftec cases, i had a blue one paited red on the inside, it was great, i cut that thing a hundred times over lol and it still worked out. lol

I would say to go with cheap cases because they're really simple and easy to mod. I bought a $40 case and it was crap to start with, after cutting some holes, a side panel window and a repaint it not only looks good but cools much better than stock.

And your best friend for this would be a rotary tool (dremel). You can't really do anything without one.
