1. That's Striker II Formula, not Striker 11.

2. Very relative, on what you call 'the best'. For Intel Desktop, right now it's the ASUS Maximus Extreme and Striker II Formula and also the Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 but many reviewers suggest the metal plate behind the CPU socket (aka Crazy Cool) is a hinderence when using CPU coolers with a back-plate (and that metal plate is difficult to remove).

For AMD Desktop AM2+ it has to be the Gigabyte GA-790FX-DQ6 and the ASUS M3A32-MVP.
The recent BIOS update allows the ASUS Crosshair to run the Phenom processors.

For Intel Workstation it will be any board based on the Intel "Seaburg" 5400 server chipset.

For AMD Workstation it will be the MSI K9ND "Speedster" WA6.

Yeah sorry lack on info for you.

I am running Inrel chips and its for my home rig :)

so yeah i guess its a case of the Asus striker II formula 780I chipset, or the maximus extreme (x38 chipset)

I am looking to put water cooling on the cpu and 2 gpus in 2 weeks.

so what you think? :)

AMD? Anything 790FX, really. My pick would be anything 790FX and DFI, and that would mean several motherboards including DFI LP UT 790FX-M2R .

Again boils down to your proposed/planned video-subsystem. If it's NVidia SLI (or that you own a NVidia card) It's better you go for the Striker II Formula. If you own a ATI card (and CrossFire), go for the Maximus Formula. This way you carve your upgrade path well before hand.

ASUS = overrated

With the amount of features that they pack into their enthusiast products, I think the price increase vs. other companies is justified. But I agree with you that they are slightly overrated and I think it's partly due to the price factor.

Well the asus maximus formula x38 is a good board but i recomend the Asus P5E Intel X38 Simply because its the same board but you save a a bit of money if you peel off the Asus p5e Sticker on the mobo it actually says "asus maximus formula" underneath it lol.

But if you're going Nvidia this isnt the board for you.
