Best way to cool two 4870's in Crossfire?

There are NO good coolers for 4870's in crossfire.

At least none available to me.

I'm sick of the stock coolers on my 4870's. In order to keep the cards at reasonable temperatures I have to have the fans @80% which is very loud. Other wise the temperature skyrockets if I lower the fan speed.

Newegg's selection of GPU coolers is severely lacking and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good cooler that will fit with my crossfire set up.

Maybe you could get a couple Xigmatek Bifrost coolers. Sneekypeet has one for a very nice price and you could find another.

I don't think the Bifrost would fit, I don't think I could get my crossfire connectors around it.

I did, but I don't like bending the fins and bending the crossfire bridge like that. And I would have to buy two Arctic S1's again.

I need a little change.

Are there any after market coolers that exhaust the air out the back of the case?

i use the Scythe MUSASHI with the original heatsink plate in place and some bigger fans which took max temps down about 8c underload. It does fit a 4870 as well and got the same kind of performance as well.

Room temp 23c.

Newegg have it ($44) but there about $6 more expensive than some others.

My 4870's don't have the heatsink plate that goes over the ram, they have the custom XFX cooler(The square one that exhausts out the back).

Neweggs GPU cooler section has REALLY declined in recent months.

this is why I got the nice sapphire 4870's... don't need to do anything with the coolers as they are the non-reference ones. Makes life a lot easier

but less fun

. This is why i got one with a stock cooler as i knew i could use the stock plate with the GPU cooler and mod the cooler if needed ( which i did but don't need any more cooling on VRM or ram chips).

There are Vrm coolers and ram coolers you can get just make sure it's better than the ones you get with the GPU coolers as they tend to suck.

I had a box fan duct taped to the side of my PC once to cool down the cards. Didn't work as well as I had expected though. Meh.

I've had both an EK Full cover and T-Rad2 on my 4870s. The T-Rad2 is awesome for air (with two 92mms), but the EK is just outstanding. Overclocked ALOT and it never goes above 40c.

If you can... go water. Otherwise, T-Rad2.
