Just wondering what the preferred way to control fps is? Right now I am using the precision ocx to limit framerate, I set the target to 60 fps, vsycn disable in games. Which one puts less load on the pc? Less heat?

Thanks

MSI afterburner comes installed with rivatuner statistics server.

bad screenshot because the app doesnt like 200% DPI scaling on my 4K TV.

pick global (or a specific .exe) and stick an FPS limit in.

fps locking/limiting is better , vsync can actually cause more load and heat in my testing

Vsync can cause mouse lag in some games (killing floor 2 + SLI + Vsync = an unholy mess, Vsync off + 58FPS cap = glorious)

Just reduce your power target on your overclocking App. (or your temp limit)

Depending on your BIOS you may be able to downlclock your power as far as 36% (original 100%)

You have a Pascal card, so GPU boost 3.0 will take care of the rest :) The result is a smooth gameplay experience at reduced power draw and heat.

The downside to limiting framerate is different games use more power per frame.

So in one game you could be getting 100FPS and generating 250w of heat.

In another game you could be getting 50FPS and generating 285w of heat.

That's the beauty of PASCAL, GPU boost 3.0 is intelligent enough to allow you to run your card how you want to :)

I want to try this, but the evga software is driving me insane. The profiles dont "stay". Saving a profile and settings seem like hit and miss

I used Nvidia Inspector to limit FPS inspecific games, as it stores settings in NCP and there's no need to run this app in background. Lately i have stopped messing with it due to native VSYNC options in NVCP (FastSync, Adaptive Sync).

What is NCP and NVCP?
