Bios rom checksum error "drive A error, system halted"

Have tried to clear CMOS. The FTP site wont load for me. I tried internet explorer. does it load for you?

Heres where I got the file I'm trying to flash.
well that site download give me a 9 meg file, wich is for windows flashing i think..

wouldnt work anyhow. the thread you linked seems promising.

well..my last resort here will be to try the award flasher, with the bios file i have send earlier...after that,i think you bios rom chip is toast

hoo,and check what bios rom chip on the motherboard you have, might help choosing the right award flasher

Actually, here is the one photo I have of it before I bricked it. What bios flasher version would I need with that?

try with the 8.99...

just to show another website talking about it,so get it from the official page i send earlier(or same as the forum guy talking about it)

damn,i hope it will work :)

any progress>?does the awardflasher do something?

Tried with 8.99 and the file from softpedia, which is the same as the one from biostar i think. The flasher feels very unresponsive, and it takes a few seconds after typing in file name and hitting enter for it to do anything. It says please wait for 10-15 seconds, then says "Don't turn off power or reset system"

Presumably its trying to flash. I don't know if its flashing but just going very very slowly, or if its frozen. I don't get any indicator of progress with V8.99. I'm giving it some time.

I tried V6.03 and it gives me a message that says "Checksum: F89BH" and then after a minute or so it gives an error along the lines of its not a valid bios file for this application, iirc.

One thing I have thought about is what if that file is .pro because its meant for the bios's built in flashing tool, and wont work with award's flash utility. I have tried to flash with the file as .pro and .bin

have you try with yur version of biostar rom file too?

have you try with yur version of biostar rom file too?
and if the prog start, how much you have wait for some progress bar to appear>?the guy in the forum was talking from 5 minute to hour (personnaly, all the bios update i have done in my life was 5 minute max)

or maybe, because you use a sd card to floppy thing,,the computer dont love it>??

I tried with the bios version from Biostars website too. No difference.

I don't get a progress bar at all with v8.99

It could be the emulator but it seems to be reading fine since it can boot to it.

hmm..did you try awardflasher ver. 8.69 like the guy in the forum?

Thank you! You were a good help. I think I am closer to a solution than before at least. I might try a Uniflash now.

i know bios are complicated sometime, even with my brand new gigabyte aorus x570,,flashing the bios to accept my 5800x,theyre are limitation to it,like a usb 2 usb drive with less that 2 gig if i remenber correctly, and i know it cause my friend buy the same thing about 1 year ago,and he have big problem to complete the bios process cause of that weird limitaton..i truly hope you can ressucitated that computer...best of luck buddy

ps...im sad that all of this didnt work out man!i have try!

Maybe BIOS doesn't allow usage of AWDflash routines.
Try awdflash /F and report please.

Source:
"/F - stands for reprogramming by means of the system BIOS. Most contemporary BIOS's feature the procedure of FlashROM reprogramming. The key /F enables AwardFlash to reprogram FlashROM with the algorithms of the current BIOS version. If a mainboard peculiarities do not allow applying AwardFlash Writer algorithms, you should use the key /F."

Plan B: use /LD in order to destroy "old´" checksum and reboot

Tried biostar homepage using firefox:

Use radio button at left bottom to switch to downloads
Use the flasher provided!

In case you have an old PATA cd drive try to boot from cd/DVD with XP or such and see what happens.

I can't. The links won't work.

I can go to the website but when I click on the downloads they don't download.

It won't boot to CD. Tried that.

Nope. I can't tell it to boot to CD or anything as I can't enter the system bios. The bootblock bios is only looking for a floppy drive to boot to.

I'm using some Samsung CD drive with an XP installation disk

Tried to flash the bios file from Biostars website using by awdflash (v8.69) /f and it's sitting at "please wait!" Not sure what it's doing. I'll give it some more time, but it's been about 7 or 8 minutes so far.

I'll try that file thanks.

By the looks, the flasher version biostar linked is 8.26 perhaps? I'll try that and the file you linked

I think I was actually. Just tried

AWDFLASH.EXE /F VIT0826F.PRO with the file you linked and Awardflash v8.26G, the version that would have been on Biostars site.

Should I be renaming it to .bin?

Am I typing in the command correctly? It never seems to do anything differently and just seems to open the application normally when I use /F and /LD

If you had access to an old Win98 or XP cd and a harddrive you could make the stick a bootable CD and give it a shot.

Somewhat I believe that compatibility of your emulator may not be fully.

I don't have a desktop IDE hard drive at the moment. I am waiting on a laptop ide to desktop ide adapter to come from china.

Maybe I can write a floppy with a program that will allow it to boot to CD when the bios doesn't support it?

Very last option would be a new chip.
Boot with the old Chip, remove it whilst powered, insert new one and Flash.
Maybe you rehearse a few times without power prior to live show!
