Some people wanted evidence. John Linneman twitted a couple of hours ago that he personally has talked to 3 devs that admitted they were forced to remove the already implemented DLSS from their game due to sponsorship. Now we need to find out which company he is talking about

Still it's what we knew all along, and the Eurogamer/DF guys aren't the only ones in the industry that were acutely aware of AMD's bribery all along. Polite requests when money exchanges hands leaves it heavily implied that the mere thought of violating such "good will" means that the developers are off the cooperation list, permanently. Maybe once people realize AMD are scumbags and not darlings things will improve

Games should work with every technology available to intel/nvidia and amd. Imo it is shitty to block any of them in any game to favor one or the other.

"evidence" implies that he actually fostered screenshots / recordings of the conversations with devs, which he didn't. He's also not speaking in official capacity. This is the same guy who had a public meltdown when he had to write about Hogwarts legacy calling it a children's game so it could very well just be more of his twitter drama. The fact that he's deleting comments indicate that he's being less than transparent. DigitalFoundry is regularly sponsored by Nvidia for videos as well. All factors to consider.

Just like other reddit rumors, I'll believe it when actual proof is provided.

Most people are aware of this. That said, it's not a reason to accept twitter posters with no proof as fact. Particularly when there are warning flags.

Do we really, really, really need more proof than Frank Azor saying that money exchanges hands and that they're politely asked not to implement competing technologies?

AMD confirmed it is giving Bethesda money as the word sponsorship implies.

The definition of sponsorship is: "money that is given, usually by a company, to support a person, organization or activity:"

In the gaming world it's also normal to lend technical expertise for a sponsorship. Not sure how that's proof of anything nefarious when it's exactly what the world implies, unless of course you weren't aware of what the word sponsorship means.

You are misrepresenting Frank Azor's statements, here's the article: https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-says-be...-anytime-it-wants-they-have-our-full-support/

""If and when Bethesda wants to put DLSS into the game, they have our full support,”"

They asked Bethesda to prioritize FSR, which makes sense given that's what they are paying for.

AMD could of course be lying but what you've presented here absolutely ain't proof of AMD blocking DLSS.

Do we need Crysis 2 excessive tesselation like evidence for this?

Seems like no one learned from their passed games, maybe worth a look in a year or 3. Then you'll get all DLC's and patches for one low price.

Dammit people vote with your wallet.

Maybe AMD is being unfair to everyone by offering Starfield with their products. I still cannot get over how overblown and foolish this argument is. Let's step back a second and look at CP 2077. There was no FSR support when that Game launched but DLSS was in there, now you have Path Tracing in CP2077 for Nvidia GPUs. Even though there is no GPU that does not support FSR.

If AMD is blocking DLSS via sponsorship that is really bad, but I'd like to see more firm evidence then hearsay before sharpening the pitchforks.

If evidence comes out I don't think it'll be enough to turn me off buying AMD products mind you, but I will mention it when recommending AMD products to others at least.

You do realize FSR1 was released over 6 months after right?

Kinda hard to implement somthing that doesn't exist.

yea but fsr is inferior to dlss
and amd gpus are inferior to nvidia

and the irony is AMD are the first to complain about how unfair nvidia is
but nvidias graphics products don't suck amds do .

so AMD has been sabotaging PC gaming all along (since they are more focused on consoles nowadays).

and we have PC gamers actually supporting what AMD is doing?

Btw the DLSS Mod is the most downloaded mod for Starfield LOL

On the flip side if Nvidia was doing it you'd have people supporting it as well. Unfortunately people treat these companies like their favorite football team neither can do no wrong.

Both don't care about any of us and are just after our money defending either always looks pretty ridiculous to me.

Unfortunately they are our only two options with intel only having really low tier hardware hopefully it turns into a real three horse race at some point.

No idea why people like to defend companies either, PC gamers should care about PC gaming foremost :D, and only Nvidia is doing everything to innovate PC gaming for awhile now

Too had they decided not to innovate on pricing... Maybe it is innovative to get suckers to spend $1200 on an 80 class product and $800 on a 70 class product.

If AMD can't innovate on pricing either with MCM (which is the entire purpose of MCM), then I suspect that it's an industry wide problem, not just Nvidia's.

Must be why the 4060ti is the most innovative gpu since the 960.....

Yes it's a bad product,
Not like you or I care about xx60 class of GPU anyways :D.

But well it does show up in Steam Hardware Survey after a month

So thanks to AMD's business practices, we have no choice but to use a technology that every GPU supports instead of one that only works on Nvidia? Oh my god, what a terrible world we live in! :fear: #firstworldproblems

I also remember the good old "The way it's meant to be played" days when GameWorks technologies ran like ass on ATi/AMD cards and not a single soul moaned about it.

I'm not saying that such shady practice should be encouraged (if it's true anyway, which I still don't believe), only that it's way overblown.

I don't disagree but DLSS is easily modded into a game this product is permanent and more anticonsumer to me than not having DLSS ever will be.

People did complain it's just nvidia fanboys championed it as progress....

Yes, they have their full support, a statement that conveniently came after the game had gone gold and no further changes would be made in time for the prelaunch window offered to Premium buyers. Also, release the sponsored game with DLSS and watch AMD not working with you again. After all, the "polite" request was summarily ignored... sure, probably wouldn't happen if Bethesda said no, but that's because their games are popular and sought after, and they can get a deal elsewhere as well.

But for the small developer, that's as good as a "you're not doing it if you value the privileged relationship you have with this IHV". And I have a hunch that Bethesda chose to go along with it because it seems they had actual AMD engineers working on this game's graphics engine, without whose support they likely could not have shipped the game on time.

Honestly, they deserve no benefit of doubt. Treat AMD like the ruthless 200 billion dollar corporation they are. They do not deserve this darling treatment.

Hahahaha I'm glad that when I brought that up it began to spread. It's really how it's like and should be treated like, nothing we ever say is gonna change that. Forum fights between fans of certain brands are just like stadium brawls, just less physical

I must agree. When was the last time that AMD was first to market with a staple feature? Tessellation with the HD 5870? Many will point to Mantle, but Mantle was released on very few games and removed from AMD's own drivers before the supported hardware's lifespan was up. It may have given a leg to develop Vulkan on, I guess that is commendable enough, but we're so far away from that, not to mention the ratio of D3D12 to Vulkan games is still insanely wide and only widening.

What is permanent? 4060Ti got its prices slashed to conform to supply/demand, I think you are playing into the whataboutism here...
