hi all, I've decided to finally pull the trigger and treat myself to a little upgrade.

am looking at this at the moment - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/fzxqdD

just for motherboard, cpu.ram, the rest of the stuff listed I already have and will be transferring across, my current PSU i hope will be ok, i know its a 650w but cannot for the life of me remember which brand it is, I will have a look in the next day or so tho.
Case i have is old but perfectly usable, Thermaltake Armor , lots of room and drive bays and plenty of cooling so thought keep it for now.

ill make do with my existing SSD for now as budget is tight and i can't really scrape up the extra for a nvme yet, but will get 1 in the new year.
Just wondered if ppl think it's a good upgrade from what I have currently and if anyone can think of any problems I may run into.....

any advice welcome :)

I'd be saving up for a 5600x or the like. B550 board and I've seen too many issues with Corsair ram on Ryzen. G.skill seems to be easy to work with.

ok just checked my PSU and its not what i thought lol , its an Antec VP550P 80+ rated unit, would this be suitable for the above specs?

Output Current
+5V - 24 A +3.3V - 24 A +12V1 - 30 A +12V2 - 30 A -12V - 0.5 A +5VSB - 2.5 A

As for saving up for the 5600x, thats deff a no go, its either something similar to the above or nothing at all unfortunatley, compared to what i have currently, i hope the above would b a decent increase in performance?

Your PSU should be fine, depending on age and normal wear and tear.
CPU and Motherboard you selected are fine too, as others have said, select different Ram as LPX is known to have issues with AMD systems.
Ripjaws are relatively cheap and reliable.
Don't forget you will need to buy a new W10 product key, these can be found regularly in the News section of TPU.

Thanks for the advice, i have now upgraded finally :) I did end up buying a new PSU just to be safe, went with a corsair TX650m 80+ gold, and so far the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600 C18 2x8GB seems just fine, will see how things go.

I do need a windows 10 key, didnt realise it cost so much!!!

Your key isn’t tied to your Microsoft account? I haven’t used a key for awhile.

Man that's a wall of text and even if it's legit, it's still frowned upon to share files like that.

sorry for that, didn't realized that the code was that big, wont do it again

If the appropriate forum moderator hasn't, can you edit your post remove the link please?

Actually, you don't need a key for Windows 10. You can use it as you like. Nothing is different and the only thing that you can't do is chaning the theme and Taskbar settings. You can't change the background picture from the settings, but you can change it by right click the picture you want to see, and then click "Set as background".

As someone said before, Microsoft wants you and your cat and dog to use Windows 10.
