What's most interesting is that Boeing 747 may actually outlive Airbus A380 (a much newer aircraft) because the A380 does not have a freight version available like the 747. Orders for 747 in its passenger role have almost completely dried up and the same is true for the A380. If you need a big cargo plane, 747 is really the only way to go (even Antonov doesn't offer anything to compete).
Two 747-8 aircraft are likely to be ordered in the near future to replace the existing SAM 28000 and SAM 29000 (aka Air Force One when POTUS is on board).
