Last time I played Borderlands 2, it was plagued with cheaters one shotting everyting, making min maxing stuff pretty pointless. Hopefully, they fix cheaters this time around as the last one was easily done with trainers.

Sounds like a cash-grab to me. I mean cutting corners just so they don't have to pay Epic for the usage of UE. On the bright side it's going to be fun to see what they can cook up with a game engine that favors AMD's competition. By the time the title hits GOG or Steam it's going to be irrelevant AF.

Well, that's more interesting, since BL1&2 was a poster child for NVidia PhysX.
only the second game have GPU PhysX. but the game has always been built on UE so the main physics engine has always been PhysX.

BL1 does have physX, just not the hardware-accelerated heavy stuff like liquid/particle effects and destructible objects. Otherwise you have all of your usual stuff like gravity and collision detection, and guns... lots of guns... all handled by NVidia PhysX version 2.8.1.
And if it wasn't developed in collaboration with NVidia, then we wouldn't have Claptrap knocking on NVidia logo at every game start.

So what they are saying is, by the time the game is released on Steam for me to purchase most of the bugs will have been addressed?

Works for me!

finally someone gets it, this is the much-needed competition Steam is long overdue and it will (hopefully) benefit all developers in the form of Steam having to reduce their cut per sale
... which in turn means developers will be able to sell their games for less and get the same amount of money still if they decide to, in other words everyone wins

There will be none of this. It just means publishers will make more money. And hopefully make better games. But it really just means suits get more money.

in the US metro: exodus had its price lowered to $50 as opposed to $60 on Steam when switching over to EGS, so no, there won't be "none" of this seeing as one AAA game already did it
it's obviously not proof that everyone will do this, but saying that there will be "none" of it screams fanboyism to me - there will be none of it in your head because you hate EGS, and automatically discard any potential positive thing(s) this competition may bring

but that's ok, as a person that has made and released a game on Steam I welcome the competition EGS brings, and am happy to see Steam get some much-needed competition at last

Sir, we can end here. I happily buy games on Epic because I don't care about stores. Must be true because I am thoroughly enjoying Exodus. However, to think any of this has to do with helping whiny ass 'gamers'...you're deluding yourself.

Can we please stop calling it EPIC and call it Tencent instead?

Tencent are basically buying up AAA games from developers to create a market that will only hurt consumers. Steam is expensive for developers but it also gives them way more customer exposure and handles lots of things that Tencent don't do, namely anti-cheat, DRM, voice, social, matchmaking, streaming (in-home and broadcasting to the web), reviews, support, customer service, community forums, cloud saves, overlays, and of course account SECURITY.

Epic/Tencent are basically charging 12% for offering a distribution method, when Valve charge 30% for absolutely everything. As a consumer, Tencent's solution is terrible. As a developer, Gearbox are going to have to do a lot of their own work to make up for what Steam provides already - resulting in an immature or wobbly implementation of those features and then risk customer backlash that comes with all the downsides of being on the Epic Game Store.

No, because they are not a majority shareholder. The company is Epic. I am sorry this doesn’t fit with your narrative.

namely anti-cheat, DRM, voice, social, matchmaking, streaming (in-home and broadcasting to the web), reviews, support, customer service, community forums, cloud saves, overlays, and of course account SECURITY.
Well, SP gamers don’t need anti-cheat, Voice, social networking, matchmaking. Cloud saves are only useful when internet device hasn’t gone to shit. Most Steam reviews are immature and so poorly done as to not be a real reflection good or bad on the games. If you actually trust Valve with account security then you are a fool. Never trust anyone with account security. Keep details minimal, provide only layered financial security, and use email address you can afford to lose. Finally, DRM is not a plus. That’s about as big a minus as you can get.

I play just fine without nearly everything you listed because I just play the games, to play the games. It’s a novel concept to immerse oneself into an entertainment medium and enjoy it, right?

At First I was like....no way in hell I am going to buy this on EpicStore... but then it strike me....... it is on purpose!!!

HEAR ME OUT!

3/4 people will pirate it and wait for it to come out on Steam. Meanwhile this 3/4 that pirated it will recommend to 1/2 of people they know and ALL of them will buy it on steam!!! Same way Windows 7 became so popular (becasue milions pirated it and MS didn't give a shite about it, it was free advertisment for them), and people cannot let go of it!!!!!!! :O
