[WTB][US] Broken SATA Hard Drive

Looking for a broken SATA Hard drive. Preferably a Western Digital. I just traded for a Western Didigal Black and the SATA Connector part is messed up. I don't actually need the hard drive, just the circuit board attached to it. I have a good EE friend that can replace the broken one with a new one. I don't really want to spend much, maybe just pay for shipping and buy you a beer or something.

From what I understand, you will probably need to replace the PCB with one from the same drive/firmware.

Yea, I don't plan on replacing the whole board. I just plan on replacing the plastic part where the SATA connector hooks up to the PCB. That's where my EE friend comes in, he's a soldiering master!

have your friend solder a clipped sata cable directly to the pcb of the drive. its permanent and how often do you use the drive with out a cable hooked to it anyways?

or you can always call WD and try and social engineer a new drive out of them.


or do like the guy in the first origianl post did, normally we use a plastic wedge instead of soldering the pins and then hotglue the cable on.

this is the most common HD issue any more, that piece is broken on probably 1 out of 7 computers i see.
