hi, i am currently on my second BFG 6800GS. my first one had some pretty high temps, around 62C @ idle and 90C @ load. other than the high temps and not being able to unlock successfully the card was fine. so after looking around a bit, i decided to get the AC NV5 Rv.3. upon installation, i got the BSOD and some nv_disp.dll error (i think that was the one). my monitor would also shut off, and the display, when the monitor was on and i didnt get the BSOD, would be totally corrupted; i would get a bunch of smiley faces upon boot-up and all these lines across the screen. i have also read that some ppl seem to be having a similar problem w/ the BSOD, tho it seems to only be a driver issue (84.21). so i was wondering if any1 would kno what the issue might be and if i should perhaps install the unused cooler on my new card...tho i would have to get some AS5 and some thermal pads :p. thanks in advance :)

hmm, looks more to me like crushed transistors. If it works with stock cooler on, then its a driver issue, if it doesn't, I'm afraid you crushed something really important :( . RMA and put a zalman cooler on your new card.

the zalman is less resistor-crushing then the silencer series...and I've had experience with the VGA silencer. it is NOT to be combined with tooless PCI install lol

tonight after about two hours of gaming i felt round the back of my machine to check if the TV out was plugged in..

the sheer volume of heat coming out from the card area being exhausted by the artic cooler made me cringe to imagine all that heat going inside my case.. it really did feel like a mini room heater..

no way do u want that shit being dumped in your case if there is way to avoid it.. any zalman supporter that put their hand round there would soon agree too.. he he he

i have felt round there before but never just after the card has been working hard for a while.. at idle its just warm.. after two hours of gaming its bloody hot.. he he

and before anybody says my card must be running too hot.. atitool registered a nice 48c..

trog
