He got a cam corder awile back and I showed him how to use it and make movies, burn em on to dvd's etc etc. The thing is, it moves so slow and he cant do anything while its uploading and burning cause he has a 1.6ghz Pent 4, 512mb of DDR, and a Intel graphics card. I was gonna put this build together and if you can make it cheaper or find something better for the same price that would be cool :)

I would put some more money on the power supply, and if your grandpa has a camcorder, are you sure if 80Gb of HD is enough?

The other parts are fine by me.

The only thing I don't see is a video card? everything else looks good.. and you cheat on the processor!

What do you reccomend? Try and keep it around 50$ if you can

All right, I see it now. The system is a good upgrade for any style of grandpa. I think he'll like it then

He has alot of 3rd party software for his job he needs to work.

yeah, that psu looks a lot better. and also if your looking at a good HDD then I'd go with that. Its only 30 bucks more, but for 250gbs!

The TT is 60$ and the SS is 40$ :p will do tho I didnt know BB would sell HDD's cheap :p

that Tt is $40 AMIR ;)

and that was an amazing find at BB :D

someone had some 320gb HDDs up for sale here i thought check there? i think they were asking $60 a pop

for his needs to burn video AND he will be multitasking he NEEDS a q6600 and is a must!

i understand you want it to be as cheap as possible but why build him a computer that barely meet his needs and be slow as chit?

i understand you want it to be as cheap as possible but why build him a computer that cant meet his needs and be slow as chit and with very limited ram?

he has a 2gb kit listed and the E2200 will do just fine especially if he oc's it

yes the e2200 will do it but it will be slow and will be severely limited trying to run other apps at the same time.

the stated purpose of this computer is to "make movies, burn em on to dvd's etc etc" so if this is what you will be doing then why would you intentionally build a computer that would be slow doing these things?

Umm sorry but what the hell are you talking about :confused:I can play a game on my 19'' and have music burning/playing with a movie going with almost no lag.. Its gonna be fine for him.

what im talking about is the time difference it takes to burn a dvd video on a q6600 vs a e2200.

hell it will work on a single core processor too, but i wouldnt suggest you build one of those.

EDIT: if he will be doing dvd video editing and recording dvd video then it will save a lot of time and be well worth the extra expense to get the q6600. now if he wont be doing it much then yes, a little longer wait on a dvd video to burn will be no big deal.
