Hello,

The ASUS VN247H is a TN panel 23.6" monitor, with a 1ms GTG response time. The ASUS VX239H is an IPS panel 23.0" monitor, with a 5ms GTG response time. Both have two HDMI and one VGA input.

The VN247H is perhaps better for games due to its low response time, but has worse viewing angles and colour depth. The VX239H is perhaps better for movies (but not by much) and for video/image editing with its IPS panel colour depth, but has a lower response time in games.

If games is going to be the main usage, I would suggest the VN247H.

VX239H.

Im about to buy the same thing.
I dont think the difference between 5ms and 1ms will be noticeable by the naked eye, but maybe will cause eye strain with extended use. Not really sure, Im just a noob lol.

Layton here looks like he is more knowledgeable about this.

But if for me ill take the VX239H, also it has speakers for my minimalist setup.

I've had 1ms gtg TN panels and have a 5ms IPS Dell...I play all sorts of gaming, sims, fps, racing, rts, etc...I would highly recommend the IPS panel over the TN, the 4ms gtg difference isn't worth a damn thing to my eyes imho.

I settled for my Dell 23" IPS and gave the old lady my 1ms Asus 24" TN. Both are great monitors, but the Dell has better blacks, whites and the colors are just better overall. I notice no difference when gaming between them as-far-as ghosting or any of that...I just notice I enjoy the IPS coloring on this Dell at least. I'd hope the Asus VX was as good with it's IPS.

Games are my main media use for my screen...and this slower IPS has 0 issues with anything I throw at it and better colors to boot, and LED backlighting keeps it cool, win, win win. Just my thoughts. :toast:

Sounds like my experience. I have to agree with @Kursah on this one. Dell makes really good displays. On top of going with an IPS panel, I would recommend the S2340M that I got myself. They work well for work and play and the image looks great as long as you don't mind the shiny screen finish. I find that matte finishes will blur pixels, some more than others. I should note that I own 3 and my place of employment just bought another 4 (on top of the 6 they already had,) and they all work great. No issues, no stuck or noticeable dead pixels.

I have the VX239 and I am really happy with it. I originally wanted a dell as it was cheaper with similar specs and Dell apparently have a better dead pixel policy.
I was a little disappointed at not being able to get the dell but I do really love the asus now.
