C windows installer folder - Delete?

So I personally don't have any problems with this folder at the moment but one of my friends is wondering if it's safe to delete everything in that folder since he is trying to free up some space on his hard drive. Thanks!

I have it in mine. Looking thru it, it looks like certain programs keep their installer in there. Probably not a good idea to delete it, as you might lose the ability to uninstall some programs.

this folder called "Installer" normally only comes forward when u unclick "Hide protected operation system files" in the View of Folder Options so i don't think it will be wise messing around in there, before u got a backup.

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location.

Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

same thing happen with me few years back, still noob at that time till now

Deleted all files *.txt and voila, after few i cant uninstall most of my software, had to reformat my PC again. lol. it would be best if you don't touch any files in windows folder. imo.
