Not to derail this thread, but there is a coil whine fix.
A forum user recently asked about Coil Whine, which is the noise a choke coil sometimes makes as it operates. This is almost always a video card problem, but can happen on any other computer or electronics components employing a choke in it's circuitry, including motherboards & power supplies...

Yes, I've seen and read through that thread before. There's a lot of warranty talk in it, and although the thread author claims manufacturers can't refuse a replacement for such a reason in NA, the word is, many are. The thread author also says that tip is meant only for those who's GPUs are past warranty, saying to RMA it instead if it is.
And even without warranty talk or manufacturers points of view on this, it's a fairly blurry photo he shows of him doing it, that's too vague to be clear on exactly how it's done. I get that he's saying to wick the glue into the wire coils, but doesn't say what kind of super glue he's using (regular, gel, etc).
IMO the super glue type and even where it's applied and at what angle all effects the possibility of whether any excess would get on the PCB, which could stick the inductor to the PCB and make inductor replacement very difficult if even possible. Maybe that is part of the reason he recommends it's only for past warranty GPUs.
At any rate, the GPU I'm currently considering, the Gigabyte Windforce RTX 4090, can have up to a 4yr warranty just for registering it on their site. I should also note that I put my tower on the floor. I will get a 4" tall monitor stand for my next tower, vs the board I put my current one on, but it will be a good 4+ feet from my ears.
I also don't play high FPS fast twitch shooters. Pretty much all games I'll be playing on the new build will be vsync capped to 120 after I get my new display. So with that I'd like to ask those who've had coil whine, especially on the Gigabyte 4090s, at what FPS was it occurring, and from how far away from the PC was it really annoyingly loud?
