Hi recently (few days ago) i've buyed an SENTEY ati radeon 9700 pro w/256 mb DDR. Before i had an GEFORCE 2 GTS w/64 mb and it was very useless for new games so i decide to change it.
Before installing ATI board removed NVIDIA drivers and then downloaded the new catalist from ati's page (5.8 i think) and installed the board.
The first game i've tried is half life 2 and it worked perfectly very fast. But the next was doom3 and it was horrible becouse there were color squares everywhere. I thought that was the instalation and erased winxp and installed all again. Well i've downloaded this program (atitool 2.5 beta) and the square appears and gives me around 77 fps average but when i push the SCAN FOR ARTIFACTS button i have this yellow blocks again. i'll try to put the image below.
In short, can anyone tell me if this problem could be broken board? Or something else? I have to do something before the warranty expires.
Thanks in advance and sorry my poor english.

Thats like defective pipes...where did you get the card? It makes me think of a modded 9500.

try the card on another computer .. if it shows the same error patterns, your card should go to rma soon :)

How can i know if it's a modded 9500? i've buyed like a 9700 pro and drivers say it's a 9700 pro. Now i've tried another game (DEUS EX 2) and the squares are there again.
I've not modified this board neither tuned nor overclocked it's NEW !. If were the broken pipes i should replace the board?

Ya replace it, like its a new card it suppose to work lol. When I said about the modded 9500, I'm pretty sure you can mod a 9500 to a 9700 (4-8 pipes). So if you got it from like a person and not a big store like newegg. Thats why I asked where you got it from.

Did you buy a new card or was it refurbished?

No it was brand new. But i'ts broken.
I've tried on another PC and the squares are there too so i send it to rma. Thanks for your help

I know that videocard and brand. It's a new Radeon 9700"PRO" with R300 core @ 325Mhz and 256MB DDR 4ns @ 400Mhz 128 bits (Yes, 128b). It's not a modded card, it's a 9700 core on a 128b bus.
The 128MB version works at 325Mhz Core and 500Mhz memory.
I don't know where "Sentey" buys chips like the R300... I thought they were discountinued.

Edit: BTW the memory is TSOP2.
